Stacking the Shelves (14) – July 17, 2021

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! The meme is hosted by Reading Reality.

Weekly Wrap-Up

This week has been much better than last week. I didn’t have to work much, and it was nice to be able to focus on other things. I continued making significant progress in my writing and finally breached 5000 words on my WIP. The landscapers came and changed out some of our shrubs and plants that have looked awful since the deep freeze this winter. Our front beds look so great now, and I’m looking forward to seeing them once all the new flowers bloom. I participated in a blog tour, which was a lot of fun, and reached a couple huge milestones (1000 followers on Twitter and 1000 likes here on the blog). I’ve also gotten lucky enough to get approved for two ARCs I’m really excited about, which you’ll see more about below. Reading this week has been good, as well. I finished Any Way the Wind Blows and The Dark Chorus. I’m also halfway finished with The Blacktongue Thief and plan to finish it today. So, be on the lookout for the review soon!

Barnes & Noble Purchases

Both of these were on my list of most anticipated releases for this month, and I’m excited to have picked them up. I’ve already read Flash Fire since I got an ARC of it, but I loved it so much I wanted it for my shelf. It has a cool reversible cover that I love.

eARC Acquisitions

I was so excited to get the email for Under the Whispering Door. I had honestly given up hope on getting the ARC since I requested it months ago. I ran downstairs to show my partner the email, and she just looked confused about why I was so happy. She definitely didn’t get the excitement, but I have loved everything I’ve read by TJ Klune. So, I’m excited to get to this one, and it is taking all the willpower I have to not drop everything and read this book now. I’m also happy I got The Hand of the Sun King, which also came as a pleasant surprise.

Comic Books

I also picked up a few comics this week. I am current on reading all my Star Wars and Spider-Man titles. So, I picked up the new issues of those books. I’m looking forward to Sinister War because the teases at the end of the recent Spider-Man issues has my interest peaked. War of the Bounty Hunters has also been enjoyable so far, and I’m looking forward to these installments of the story.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m excited about what I picked up this week. It was a slower week for book acquisition, but my bookshelves are thankful the majority of what I got was digital.

Have you read any of the books I picked up? If so, what did you think? Are any of these on your TBR? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I felt the same way when I was approved for Under The Whispering Door! I requested it months ago and got approved a few days ago. I started reading it right away but I already had something else on the go so I have only gotten half way through so far but I love it!

    • I’m so happy you got it too and that you love it so far! You’re making it even harder to hold off on reading it, but I’ve got a few books I’ve committed to reading before the end of this month that need to get done first. I’m going to try to fly through them so that I can get to it soon. 🙂
