Stacking the Shelves (18) – August 14, 2021

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! The meme is hosted by Reading Reality.

Weekly Wrap-Up

This week has once again been pretty slow, but it allowed me to have lots of time to read. I’ve spent most of my time doing chores around the house or reading. The COVID-19 surge here in Louisiana is the worst per capita in the country. Hospitals are full and ambulances are being sent to other states. So, I’m back to staying at home all the time again. I haven’t really been anywhere other than to see my parents in the last few weeks. I even chose to order my groceries for pickup on this last shopping trip rather than risk going in the store (and I HATE having other people pick out my groceries). Most of all, I’ve missed going to the bookstore. It has been almost three weeks since I’ve been. So, my Stacking the Shelves post for this week is once again a little light. On the bright side, Trope-ical Readathon has been going well, which you’ll be able to see in tomorrow’s post. I also reviewed two books this week, She Who Became the Sun and The Taking of Jake Livingston. Overall, it has been a quiet, reading-filled week, and I hope you all had a good week, as well.

NetGalley eARC

I only got one new book this week. I was approved for The Beholden by Cassandra Rose Clarke on NetGalley. The synopsis sounded really interesting, and I absolutely love the cover. So, I’m looking forward to getting to it!

Comic Books

I also picked up a a few comics this week. I got the Star Wars and Spider-Man titles, as always. I’m looking forward to reading Spider’s Shadow now that it is complete. The new Star Wars stuff looks really cool, as well, especially the Adventures comic, which is supposed to have a new story about one of the characters introduced in The Rising Storm.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it has been a slow week for book acquisition, but I’ve been able to shrink my TBR a little because of it. I hope you have all had a great week and are staying safe!

Have you read any of the books I picked up? If so, what did you think? Are any of these on your TBR? Let me know in the comments below!
