The Last 10 Books Tag

Hello, everyone! Today’s post is a book tag! I don’t remember the last time I did one of these, and I’m pretty sure it is the first time I’ve ever been tagged specifically for one. So, thank you to Hundreds & Thousands of Books for the tag! Be sure to stop by their site to see their answers to this tag too! Now it’s time to end the suspense…here are my answers.

Last Book I Bought

I actually bought quite a few books this past week while I was on vacation. Many of them were used books, but I did pick up two new releases, as well. Rather than listing everything I bought, I’ll just list the new releases I got, A Marvellous Light and Skin of the Sea. They both have such awesome covers that I knew I had to add them to my shelves. 🙂

Last Book I Re-Read

I haven’t been re-reading a lot of books recently because I’ve been pretty focused on getting through the books on my mountainous TBR. However, I did recently re-read a couple books during a readathon, including Over Sea, Under Stone. It is from The Dark Is Rising series, which I loved as a child. It was fun and incredibly nostalgic to return to this world.

Last Book I Gave Up On

I can honestly say that I don’t ever DNF fiction books. I’m too nosy to not know how the story ends, even if it is a bad one. I do, however, pretty frequently DNF nonfiction books. Although, I think of it more like setting it aside for now rather than outright DNFing it. The Ruin of the Roman Empire is the most recent one I’ve set aside, but I honestly don’t remember why.

Last Book I Said I Read But Didn’t

I don’t think I’ve ever done this with a book I’ve been reading for pleasure. I did it all the time in graduate school, though. It got to a point that I questioned buying the books at all. I don’t remember the most recent one, though, because it has been a few years…

Last Book I Wrote in the Margins Of

AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! NOOOOOO! I hate this so much. I NEVER write in the margins of my books. This is as bad as dog-earing pages to me. I can’t stand it, and I hate when I end up getting a used book that has writing in the margins. I will usually replace it with a clean copy. I cannot stress how much I HATE this. lol.

Last Book I Lost

It has been a really long time since I lost a book. I honestly don’t remember specifically the last one to go missing. I usually keep pretty close track of them because all of my books are special to me. I wouldn’t buy them if they weren’t something I wanted to keep. That being said, I lose my Kindle all the time. It is not the largest of devices, and I’ve found it almost as easy to misplace as my phone or wallet, which at least daily leads to a frantic search around the house. I’ve also lost some physical books to natural disasters in the past as my parents’ home was destroyed by hurricanes three times. So, unfortunately most of my books from childhood got wiped out.

Last Book That I Had Signed

I don’t have many signed books. In fact, I think I may only have this one, and I treasure it immensely. I was able to hear the author speak at a conference early on in my career as a therapist and then met him briefly, which is when he signed the book. His advice in this book, and others, along with the words I was lucky enough to hear him speak, have helped me immensely throughout my career.

Last Book I Had To Replace

This past summer I set out on a mission to find all the books from a Star Wars series I loved as a child, the Jedi Apprentice Series. I was able to track down all 20 of them to replace copies I lost years ago. I don’t often have to replace books because I tend to hoard them and take very good care of them.

Last Book I Argued Over

I’ve never really argued with anyone over a book. Someone else is welcome to have a different opinion and like things that I don’t. It’s not that big of a deal to me. However, the most recent book where my opinion departed from the majority of other reviews I read was The Blacktongue Thief. You can find my review here.

Last Book You Couldn’t Find

I’m not entirely sure if this prompt means a book I lost for a bit, which would be a bit repetitive, or a book I had trouble getting my hands on. For the sake of avoiding repetition, I’ll go with the latter. The Gilded Cage is a recent release and sequel to The Prison Healer, which I recently read. I checked TPH out from the library and went looking for the sequel there too, but I couldn’t find it. I checked the online catalogue, and it said the book wasn’t available in print or on order. It also said it wasn’t available via digital means. I was upset because I didn’t want to buy it (then I’d feel obligated to collect the whole series). So, I decided to check the digital services hoopla and Libby individually. hoopla didn’t have it, but the last place I checked, Libby, came through, and I was so excited! All of that to say I had a lot of trouble finding the book. lol.

Well. There you have it. My answers to the Last 10 Books Tag. I tag A Literary Escape and anyone else who wants to join in on the fun!
