Weekly Wrap-Up – March 19, 2022

It is Saturday once again, which means another week has come and gone. So, it’s time to wrap up my progress and the blog posts I’ve written this week.

Trope-ical Readathon Progress

Here’s a quick look at my Trope-ical Readathon progress so far. I’ve accumulated 5161 points and completed eight general challenges, the woods team challenge, and the fantasy team book. I read So This Is Ever After, which you’ll get to know more about in my review tomorrow. I also read Forestborn and The Hollow Hills. I liked Forestborn even if it did take me a bit of time to get invested in it. The characters exhibited a great deal of growth that I became increasingly attached to as the story unfolded. I loved The Hollow Hills. I’m a sucker for anything related to King Arthur, and I just really enjoy looking at it from the perspective of Merlin, which this series provides. Forestborn and The Hollow Hills also counted to complete the prompts for the Magical Readathon Gear Up challenges. So, my character is now geared up and ready to start his training!

Comic Book Reading

I did so much better this week with catching up on my comics from the last couple of weeks. I read 16 issues total, and you can see them all below. I enjoyed everything I read this week, but I especially liked Devil’s Reign: Moon Knight and Star Wars: The High Republic: Eye of the Storm. The current spider-man story is also currently drawing to a close, which means the tension is ratcheting up. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this business with Beyond concludes in the last issue.

  2. Loving your team fantasy challenges! I have added all three books to my SPRING tbr pile (Thank you and I love your blog!) You definitely seem like you have plenty to read but I finished a book over the weekend that I think you might enjoy called “The Blessing of the Black Wolves” by JS Murphy (https://www.jsmurphy.ca). I love fantasy and epic quests(!) and this book definitely delivered. The characters were really well-developed and the world this author created was a really cool mix of Ancient Rome meets the Dark Ages meets Game of Thrones. Sometimes romance in fantasy can feel shoehorned in to give the lead some sort of love interest but that is not the case here. The main characters, Laran and Sheftu are independent characters with their own interesting backstories and motivations. There were some points where I genuinely was not sure which way their journey would end, I was on the edge of my seat! Hope you check it out! Thanks again for all the great recommendations
