Hello, everyone! Today I’m doing something new. I’ve read several books recently that I don’t have the time to write full reviews for. They weren’t ARCs, just books from my TBR that I’m glad I finally got to. I wanted to get my most pertinent thoughts down before I forget them all. So, I’ve decided to do some super short summaries of my thoughts in four sentences or less. Here’s the result…
This book had some compelling royal family drama set against the backdrop of an Indiana Jones-style treasure hunt. I loved the setting, world-building, and history of the kingdom. The idea of magic as a natural resource was interesting and created a great external conflict for the characters. However, the quest part of the story took too long to start and felt rushed because the characters didn’t leave home until the second half of the book.
It took me a while to really get invested in this one, but once I did I didn’t want to put it down. The main character started out pretty annoying and self-deprecating ALL THE TIME, but I enjoyed her growth and came to really like the character by the end. The slow-burn romance and grumpy love interest were perfect, and the world-building of the magic and kingdoms was interesting and integrated throughout the story in a natural way. I’m definitely excited about the forthcoming sequel!
I’m really loving this series. The prose was beautiful, and I really liked the grounded, human approach to the story of Merlin and Arthur. This book had less action than the first and was a bit more meandering. However, it kept my interest with its different take on some of the key elements of Arthurian legend.

Thanks! I was getting a little too far behind on reviews but didn’t have the time to sit and write long reviews for them. So, this was the happy medium, and I actually really enjoyed the challenge of condensing my thoughts down so much. I’m loving Stewart’s series so far and plan to finish it before the end of the year.
