Monthly Wrap-Up: March 2022

Hello, everyone! We have reached the end of March and the end of the first quarter of 2022. Where has the time gone? Personally, I’m happy to see this month go. It’s just been a weird one with lots of random stuff happening. It has just left me feeling out of sorts, especially this week. I had oral surgery on Tuesday, and I’ve felt pretty horrible since. I’m on a soft food diet, which is the bane of my existence, but I’m sticking to it because chewing is out of the question due to the pain. On a brighter note, I read A LOT this month, and most of it was really great. How great? Read on to find out more!

March 2022 Trope-ical Readathon Results

This was an incredibly successful month of reading. I was only one book shy of a clean sweep of all the Trope-ical Readathon challenges, which I consider a great success given the chonky nature of many of the books I read. I finished with 7797 points and 6847 pages read. I did swap some books out and around from the original TBR due to new NetGalley approvals and library hold arrivals. So, from the original TBR I didn’t get to read The Hunger of the Gods, Little Thieves, or The Coward. However, I added Queen’s Hope and The Dragon Reborn. I enjoyed most of what I read this month a lot, which you can see for yourself in the reviews listed below.

Progress On My 2022 Reading Goals

Goodreads Challenge

So far, I’m still ahead on my goal of 100 books for the year. I read 15 books in March, which brings my total so far for the year up to 40! I’m already almost halfway to my annual goal even though we are only a quarter of the way through the year.

NetGalley Progress

I’d like to end the year with at least 50 reviews completed for NetGalley and a feedback ratio of at least 80%. I’ve made some more progress on this goal in March. I once again completed 6 reviews for NetGalley this month, which is the same number from last month and brings my overall total up to 41. I’ve also read two other books I plan to review in the next few days. My ratio has improved slightly to 65%, which I am excited about. I’m going to try to get it back above 70% by the end of April, but we’ll see how that goes. lol.

Read More Nonfiction

I read my first nonfiction book of the year, Irreligion. I still haven’t started either of the two specific nonfiction books I set as part of my goal for the year, but I plan to get to the first one within the next couple of months.

Read More Comics

I’ve set the goal of reading all the comics I buy during the week I buy them. So…this hasn’t been happening. I’ve been so caught up in completing the challenges for Trope-ical Readathon that I’ve become several weeks behind. I plan to spend some time catching up over the next few days, and I hope to get back on track with this for April.

#BeatTheBacklog

I’m trying to focus on having a majority of the books I read this year be books I bought, borrowed, or received prior to January 1, 2022. I’m still doing good so far. 40% of the books I read this month were published prior to 2022, and 67% of them were on my TBR prior to January 1.

Finish Some Series

I plan to finish or catch up on the following 5 series by the end of this year:

·  The Broken Earth by N.K. Jemisin

·  Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart

·  The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune

·  Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

·  A shit ton of different Shadowhunters books by Cassandra Clare

I finished the final book of The Broken Earth series and read the second book of the Arthurian Saga. So, progress has continued to be made!

March 2022 Reviews

It has been another very busy month for reviews. In total, I completed 4 full-length book reviews, 4 mini book reviews, and 3 micro reviews. I reviewed the following books:

Blog Posts

I continued writing weekly wrap-ups to highlight all my reading progress, book acquisitions, and recent blog posts.

I wrote a post celebrating my one year blogiversary, posted my February book haul, and wrote posts about my most anticipated releases of April 2022 and my Magical Readathon character.

Final Thoughts

Looking back on my TBR for March, I met almost all of my goals and enjoyed participating in the Trope-ical Readathon. I also made progress on most of my bookish goals for the year. Thank you to everyone who has visited, liked, and/or commented on a post. I hope you all have a great April!

  1. I only got to the first two books in Mary Stewart’s Arthur series so far but I really liked them as well. I hope you get to read the others this year. I also found The Wolf Den a great read and am eagerly anticipating the next in the series. Also, congrats (a little late) on reaching your one year blogiversary. I hope blogging continues to be as fun and fulfilling for you as it has for me — going on 10 years now. 😀

    • Thanks! Congrats on 10 years! It has definitely been fun so far, and I can only hope I’ll still be having this much fun 10 years from now. I’m definitely looking forward to the sequel of The Wolf Den, as well. It was such a great book.

    • Yeah. March was a whirlwind, and I’m glad its gone. Good luck with the goals you’ve set! Finishing series is always a good one because it is so easy to get behind on them with all the new ones constantly starting.
