Hello everyone! Welcome back for another Top 5 Tuesday! The prompt for today is my top 5 places to read. I don’t leave home much except for errands or shopping. So, most of my favorite places to read are at home. I know. Shocking right?! Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted at Meeghan Reads!

My Bed

One of my favorite places to read is in bed. I will usually read at least a few chapters each night before turning out the light, and sometimes I end up staying up way later than usual if the book is too good to put down. I often read first thing in the morning after waking up, as well, until it is time to actually roll out of bed. So, my Kindle usually lives on my nightstand or somewhere nearby.

The Treadmill

That’s right. When I’m not too lazy to get off my butt to use it, I almost always read while on the treadmill. Typically, it is an audiobook or a book on my Kindle since I don’t want sweat to get all over my books. The treadmill is one of the places where I actually get quite a bit of reading done, which I never would have predicted if you asked me a couple years ago (mostly because I never got on it…lol). It has helped me exercise more because I don’t feel like its wasted time when I can read during that time too.

The Patio

I love sitting outside to read. Luckily, I have a back patio that I really like and read there quite often. I only read outside during certain times of the year, though. There are only a couple months in spring and autumn where it is comfortable enough to do so. Unfortunately, that time has already ended for this spring. Summer has come early in north Louisiana. The temperature has been in the 90’s with high humidity for the last couple of weeks, and it has been MISERABLE to be outside. I’m really not looking forward to seeing how awful the rest of the summer turns out to be… So, I’ll be reading inside in the air conditioning for a while.

The Car

I’ve always loved reading while riding in a vehicle. As a kid, I was always reading on the school bus, and anytime my family took a trip I made sure to have a book with me. These days I’m almost always driving when I’m in the car, but I’ve found a new way to read while doing so. Audiobooks! I love listening to them while in the car, and it makes me feel like I’m productively using the time I’m stuck in the car.

My Media Room

My favorite place to read is my media room. It is the room in my house that I love the most. I call it my nerd den. lol. The walls are lined with books, movies, LEGO, and action figures. It is usually super quiet because it is upstairs over the garage and away from the rest of the house. This is perfect for reading because background noise destroys my ability to concentrate. The room is also one of the few places my anxiety gives it a rest, and I feel calm. There’s just something about being squirreled away surrounded by all my stuff that feels peaceful. I sometimes feel like a dragon sitting amongst my horde of stuff, but in a good way. 😂
