Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 Reading Accessories

Hello everyone! Welcome back for another Top 5 Tuesday! The prompt for today is my top 5 reading accessories. I definitely have a set of things that I always love to have on hand while reading. Although, the exact item(s) I use often depends on the format I’m reading. Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted at Meeghan Reads!

Kindle

Unsurprisingly, my Kindle is probably my most used reading accessory. I read a lot of eARCs and buy some books specifically for the Kindle in an effort to save a little space in my house. At first, I hated the idea of using an e-reader, but now you can almost never find me without it. It is much easier to haul around than a book (or multiple books), and I like having a variety of things to read at my fingertips.

My TARDIS Blanket

If the Kindle is my most used accessory, my favorite one has to be my TARDIS blanket. It is super soft and giant, and I loved being swallowed up by it while reading a good book.

Beats Headphones

When I am listening to audiobooks, I prefer to listen while wearing headphones. Specifically, I have a pair of Beats headphones with excellent sound and noise cancellation, which helps me drown out everything around me and get immersed in the story.

Bookmark

I know this is a bit weird, but I only use one bookmark. For the longest time, I used whatever spare piece of trash I could find laying around. One day I came across a beautiful bookmark with a dragon on it while waiting in line during one of my many B&N shopping trips. I couldn’t pass it up, and I’ve been using it pretty much exclusively ever since. I still use random bits of paper on occasion when I forget the bookmark, but more often than not I’ll be using my dragon bookmark if I’m reading a physical copy of something, especially if it is fantasy.

A Good Smell

This is probably the weirdest one on the list. lol. I love using essential oils or burning a scented candle while I’m reading, especially if I’m trying to relax. A nice smell is incredibly helpful in setting a great ambience for reading. Currently, I am burning a Midnight Butterfly scented candle, which I am loving. 🙂

So, there you have it. My top 5 reading accessories. What things do you usually have on hand while reading? Let me know what they are down in the comments!

      • Haha I think I’m living proof that you can have the notes and still not be great at getting reviews done 😅. Really I just use the pen because I enjoy it and feel like I engage more with the text that way — but that wouldn’t necessarily hold true for everybody else.

    • I’m very protective of it. lol. It has a protective sleeve that it lives in when I’m not using it. If I’m being honest, though, I’m kind of surprised I haven’t lost it yet. I tend to misplace stuff quite a bit.
