Monthly Wrap-Up: May 2022

Well. Another month has come and gone. It has been a pretty great one with all the Star Wars stuff (Celebration, Star Wars Day, etc.) going on. New books, shows, and LEGO sets were definitely welcomed into my home with open arms. lol. Other than that, though, this has been a pretty dull month in my household.

May the Force Read With You Readathon Results

These results are a bit preliminary since I’m still working on the final book of my TBR, but I’m gonna go ahead and call it since I’m almost certain I’ll finish the last book by the end of the day. I did it! I achieved the highest rank of the Sith, Dark Lord of the Sith, and I accumulated all the weapons and dark side partners along the way. Now on to galactic domination!! I also read a few books that weren’t on my TBR, which you can see below, as well. Overall, it has been a fun and successful month filled with lots of good books. Thank you to Breakeven Books for creating this awesome readathon!

Progress On My 2022 Reading Goals

Goodreads Challenge

So far, I’m still way ahead on my goal of 100 books for the year. I read 16 books in May, which brings my total so far for the year up to 77! I will likely still reach my goal much sooner than the end of the year.

NetGalley Progress

I wanted to end the year with at least 50 reviews completed for NetGalley and a feedback ratio of at least 80%. I met my goal of 50 total NetGalley reviews back in April. So, that one is done! In May, I completed another 9 reviews for NetGalley, which is tied with April for the most NetGalley books I’ve ever reviewed in a single month. Unfortunately, my ratio stayed the same at 70% since I also got approved for a ton of new books this month. I guess that is a good problem to have, though.

Read More Nonfiction

I read one nonfiction book this month, This Book Is Gay. So, my total of nonfiction books now stands at two so far for this year, which is two more than last year. Yay!

Read More Comics

I’ve set the goal of reading all the comics I buy during the week I buy them. So…this still hasn’t been happening. For the third month in a row, I’ve fallen even further behind. I did read some comics, but I’m still probably a month or more behind on my current books. I do plan to read them, but I think I’m done trying to set a specific time table for catching up with all of them since it clearly isn’t working. Instead, I’m going to try to read at least two floppies per week in June and see how that goes.

#BeatTheBacklog

I’m trying to focus on having a majority of the books I read this year be books I bought, borrowed, or received prior to January 1, 2022. I failed real hard at this one again this month. Only 31% of them were published prior to 2022 or on my TBR prior to January 1.

Finish Some Series

I plan to finish or catch up on the following 5 series by the end of this year:

·  The Broken Earth by N.K. Jemisin

·  Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart

·  The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune

·  Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

·  A shit ton of different Shadowhunters books by Cassandra Clare

I read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child this month, which was the last Harry Potter book I needed to read.

May 2022 Reviews

In total, I completed 6 full-length book reviews and 4 mini book reviews. I reviewed the following books:

Blog Posts

This month I continued participating in First Lines Fridays and Top 5 Tuesday. I also jumped on board with another meme I’ve been eyeing for a while, W.W.W. Wednesday.

I also participated in a book tag, wrote an announcement about my participation in BBNYA 2022, posted my May book haul, and wrote a post about my most anticipated releases of June 2022.

Final Thoughts

Looking back on my TBR for May, I surpassed all my readathon goals. I also made progress on several of my bookish goals for the year while tanking some others. Thank you to everyone who has visited, liked, and/or commented on a post. I hope you all have a great June!

  1. Great wrap up! Looks like you had a pretty great reading month and congratulations on achieving the Sith Dark Lord ranking! 😃 I recently ordered a copy of Book Lovers and I can’t wait to get my hands on it as I’ve heard so many good things about it. I hope you have an awesome month of reading in June!
