WWW Wednesday (12) – July 27, 2022

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

These last couple of weeks have been rough. I started a new medication, and the side effects have left me sleepy, dizzy, and incredibly nauseous all the time. It has made it hard to concentrate on anything, including reading, and I’ve spent much more time in bed than usual. I apologize that I haven’t really been blog hopping or commenting as much as usual, but I just haven’t felt up to it. Thank you to everyone who has continued to view and engage with my posts despite my dip in engagement. It has helped me continue to feel at least a little connected even though I’m feeling out of it. I’m hoping to get back to my usual routine soon.

Now on to the bright spot of the week. I’ve loved all three of the books I finished. The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy had some of my favorite characters so far this year, and the romantic pairing had incredible chemistry. The Garden of Empire was a fascinating look at the costs of both colonization and rebellion, and it added so much cool information about the magic system of this series. Finally, Padawan was a great coming-of-age story for Obi-Wan, and, surprisingly, it made me see this well-established character in a completely new light.

What was my favorite of the week? I don’t think I can pick a favorite this week because I loved all of them for different reasons. So, I’m just going to say all of them. 🙂

What are you currently reading?

I started listening to A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows yesterday. I haven’t made it very far yet, but I’m enjoying it.

What will you read next?

I’ve been wanting to get to my ARC of Babel by R.F. Kuang for a while now, and the release date is inching ever closer. So, I think I’m finally just going to jump to it because I feel like I just need to read it next. Then I really need to read The Jasmine Throne because I didn’t get to it this past week like I planned.

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

    • I feel kind of bad that I’m just now getting to Babel because I know a lot of other people didn’t get the ARC. That being said, I am LOVING it so far, and I really think this is going to be one I obsess over for quite some time.

      • I think that’s okay! You are reading it though. Many people don’t read them for a long time, if at all. Sometimes life just gets crazy. Also, I’m really bad at waiting until closer to release day. Especially, a highly anticipated one. Just think of it as keeping the hype going after all this time when you’re finsihed. 😊

  1. So sorry you aren’t feeling well! Hope you get adjusted to the new meds and feel better. Oh look, another Star Wars book you’ve made me want to read…I really need to get to those some day! I’ve seen good things about Strange and Stubborn Endurance, I might slip that into my mood read slot after I finish my reread of Six Crimson Cranes!

    • Thank you! The side effects are supposed to go away after a while of being on the medicine. So, hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. This Star Wars book was a really great take on young Obi-Wan. He was struggling to find his place as a padawan, which was just so different from the self-assured Jedi from the prequels. I’m not sure how I feel about Strange and Stubborn Endurance yet. There are things I do really like about it, but it just hasn’t gripped me the way I expected.
