WWW Wednesday (19) – September 14, 2022

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

Hello, everyone! I’m going to start this week’s update with some great news. The wasps are gone!! 🙂 Now I just need to find someone to stop up all the holes so that they cannot get back inside the attic. I’m also pretty excited about the weather this week. It has actually been cool enough to sit outside and read without sweating myself to death by dehydration. I’m not optimistic it will last because this is Louisiana in September, but I’m enjoying the nice weather while I’ve got it.

As for reading, it has been a pretty great week. I finished listening to Beach Read by Emily Henry in less than a day and loved it so much. She is definitely one of my favorite romance authors because I LOVED Book Lovers as well when I read it a few months ago. I also read Ruination by Anthony Reynolds. It was a really great introduction to the League of Legends world and had fascinating magic and political conspiracies galore. I continued working on my goal of catching up on the Shadowhunter books with Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare. I’m not a huge fan of Clare’s writing, and I’ll be the first to admit that it is far from a literary masterpiece. However, there’s something about the world she’s built and the way she brings characters and their relationships to life that always sucks me in and doesn’t let go. This book was no different, and the ending BROKE ME. Like full on ugly cry sobbing. 😭😭😭 The final book I finished this week was Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans. This was a fun, fast-paced fantasy adventure with a main character I loved rooting for and a magic system I enjoyed learning alongside the protagonist.

What was my favorite of the week? I think my favorite of the week would have to be Beach Read. I flew through it and loved the chemistry and the author’s use of the characters to tackle the topic of grief.

What are you currently reading?

I’m finishing up Sabriel by Garth Nix. I hope to finish it later today and am still loving it so far. Many of my predictions have been mostly right, which has me feeling a bit smug. 😏 I’ve also just started People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry and Fraternity by Andy Mientus. I haven’t gotten far enough to have an opinion, but I’m excited about both of them. Another Emily Henry romance. A gay dark academia story with a fantasy/paranormal twist. What isn’t there to be excited about?

What will you read next?

I’m going to continue to plow through the ARCs I’m late reviewing. Oops… I’m also going to read the last of The Dark Artifices because I need to know what happens next after that cliffhanger broke me so much.

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
