Monthly Wrap-Up: September 2022

As I’m sitting here thinking back about this month, nothing special really stands out. I honestly can’t believe it has already been a month since the last wrap-up post. It seems like it was just the other day. I’m excited the weather is finally getting at least a little cooler. Although, I’m sure we will still have several last gasps of summer before fall really arrives. I do live in Louisiana after all. I don’t really have anything else to say about September. So, let’s just move on to my updates about reading. lol.

Books I’ve Read

I set pretty lofty TBR goals for September, as usual. Luckily, I can say that I read everything on my list! It was a really great month, and most of my reading was 4 stars or above. These are the books I read from my TBR (the ratings link to my review, if available):

  • Sabriel by Garth Nix (4⭐)
  • Wildbound by Elayne Audrey Becker (5⭐)
  • Ruination by Anthony Reynolds (4⭐)
  • One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (5⭐)
  • The House with the Golden Door by Elodie Harper (4⭐)
  • Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco (4⭐)
  • The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas (4⭐)
  • Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews (3⭐)
  • Blood of Troy by Claire M. Andrews (3⭐)
  • Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans (4⭐)

I also managed to fit in quite a few books beyond what I set out to read. This brought my total for September up to 18! These are all the books I read in addition to those on my TBR (the ratings link to my review, if available):

  • Beach Read by Emily Henry (5⭐)
  • Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare (5⭐)
  • People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry (5⭐)
  • Fraternity by Andy Mientus (4⭐)
  • Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales (4⭐)
  • Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare (4⭐)
  • Demon in the Wood by Leigh Bardugo (4⭐)
  • Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li (3⭐)

Progress On My 2022 Reading Goals

Goodreads Challenge

I’ve surpassed my goal of 100 books for the year! I read 18 books in September, which brings my total so far for the year up to 141! I don’t plan to set a new goal. Instead, I’m just going to keep reading as much as possible to see how high I can get the number before the end of the year.

NetGalley Progress

I wanted to end the year with at least 50 reviews completed for NetGalley and a feedback ratio of at least 80%. I met my goal of 50 total NetGalley reviews back in April. So, that one is done! In September, I completed another 7 reviews for NetGalley. My ratio inched up to 78%. I’m so close to the goal of 80% I can practically taste it!

Read More Nonfiction

There was no nonfiction in my reading in September. I’ve technically already met my goal for the year since I’ve already read more than two nonfiction books, but I’d still like to squeeze in at least one more before 2022 is over.

Read More Comics

I’ve set the goal of reading all the comics I buy during the week I buy them. So…this still hasn’t been happening. I’ve pretty much abandoned this goal at this point. Oh well…

#BeatTheBacklog

I’m trying to focus on having a majority of the books I read this year be books I bought, borrowed, or received prior to January 1, 2022. In September, only 17% of the books I read were bought, borrowed, or received prior to 2022. I’ve still mostly been focused on ARCs and more recent additions to my TBR. I don’t see this changing prior to the end of the year. So, I’m probably not going to meet this goal. There’s always next year. Right?

Finish Some Series

I plan to finish or catch up on the following 5 series by the end of this year:

·  The Broken Earth by N.K. Jemisin

·  Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart

·  The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune

·  Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

·  A shit ton of different Shadowhunters books by Cassandra Clare

I finished the final two Dark Artifices books by Cassandra Clare in September. So, I’ve only got three more Shadowhunters books to go before I’ve finished them off!

Final Thoughts

I did a few blog posts in addition to my reviews, and you can find those in my blog archives if you are interested in checking them out.

Overall, this has been another great month of reading. My favorite was probably One Dark Window, but I really enjoyed most of what I read. The Sabriel read-a-long hosted by Jordyn @ Birdie’s Book Nook was also a highlight.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the blog and engaged with comments and/or likes! I appreciate all of you and always enjoy reading your input in the comments. I hope everyone has a great October!

    • You’re right! I completely forgot that the wasps happened at the beginning of the month. I’m glad it got resolved too… so much that I’ve apparently blocked it from my memory. Lol

  1. Looks like you had an amazing month of reading in terms of # and ratings! 😃 I’ve heard so many great things about One Dark Window and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. It really sounds so so good! I also don’t know where September went because I feel like the month just started? Haha. I hope you have an awesome October!

  2. That looks like a great month of reading. I loved the Sabriel read along too and can’t believe that I had never read it before. I hope you get round to the Arthurian books soon.

    • I had never even heard of Sabriel before. So, you were still doing better than me. Lol. The Arthurian books will probably be in my TBR for next month because I definitely want to get to them before the end of the year. I loved the first two. So, I’m sure I’ll love the rest too.

  3. That’s an amazing reading month! I blew past my reading goal as well. It’s always a rush to see that one has accomplished that particular feat!
