Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 Anticipated Reads for Oct-Dec 2022

Hello everyone! It’s been way too long since I’ve participated in Top 5 Tuesday. What can I say? I’ve been super lazy when it comes to blog posts that aren’t reviews or wrap-ups. I’m still feeling lazy, but this is a pretty easy topic. So, I thought I’d hop on board for at least this week with my top 5 anticipated reads for this last quarter of 2022. Strangely enough, the first two actually released TODAY, and I’ll be making a trip to B&N to snatch them up. 🙂 Top 5 Tuesday was created by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted at Meeghan Reads!

Path of Deceit by Tessa Gratton & Justina Ireland

I’m so excited that phase 2 of The High Republic publishing initiative is starting! This is the first book of the new phase, which acts as a prequel to phase 1. So, this is supposed to be an excellent jumping on point for The High Republic if you’ve been wondering where to start with the massive amount of stuff that has been published. I’m cautiously optimistic I’ll love this one, but I didn’t really care for the YA book Justina Ireland wrote for phase 1. So, we’ll see. Regardless, I’m excited to see a new point in the timeline and meet some new characters!

The First to Die at the End by Adam Silvera

I’m a huge fan of Adam Silvera and have read most of his books at this point. So, to say I’m excited for this one would be a massive understatement. I have no doubt this book will break me in all the right ways and leave me a sobbing mess. His books usually do.

A Restless Truth by Freya Marske

I loved the first book in this series, A Marvellous Light, last year. It was funny, gay as hell, and had a cute romance alongside the mysterious magical elements. I’m looking forward to this follow-up, but I’m also a bit hesitant because the main characters are changing. I’m not often a fan of that happening in series, but the synopsis sounds epic. Sapphics on a boat. I’m in for the ride and hopeful it will be a great one.

Ocean’s Echo by Everina Maxwell

I feel horrible for still not reading Winter’s Orbit yet. I’ve heard such great things about it, and it sounds like a book I would love. Regardless of my status with Maxwell’s other book, I am looking forward to this one and will probably read it before Winter’s Orbit since I have an ARC of Ocean’s Echo. Also, look at that cover!! How could someone not want to read that book?!

Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan

I loved Daughter of the Moon Goddess so much, and I’m excited to see how the story wraps up. The first book was such a beautiful retelling of Asian myth, and the writing really swept me away. I’m looking forward to being transported back to this world one more time.

So, there you have it. My top 5 anticipated reads for this last quarter of 2022. What books are you anticipating the most? Let me know what they are down in the comments!
