WWW Wednesday (25) – October 26, 2022

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

This week has been a bit slow. I spent every day last week participating in the American Counseling Association’s Virtual Conference (gotta get those CEs to stay licensed), but I still managed to read two books and listen to two more. First, I finished Ocean’s Echo. I loved this book. It was the perfect blend of science fiction, romance, and political intrigue. Next, I listened to A Deadly Education. I hadn’t planned to listen to this one, but my hold showed up from Libby. It was a fascinating dark academia with lots of monsters, magic, and mayhem, and I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the series when it becomes available from the library. I also listened to The Witch Hunt. I didn’t love or hate the first installment of this duology, and I felt similarly about this one. However, the end made me want to chunk it across the room. I didn’t because that would have messed up my phone, but I really, really wanted to do it. Finally, I read The Atlas Six. I’ve had this book on my shelf for a while, and I regret not picking it up sooner. These characters were a mess in the absolute worst ways, and I loved every second of the drama. The magic was super cool too.

What was my favorite of the week? My favorite this week was The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. This was such a fascinating story with characters I loved to hate. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time because I wanted to know what drama was coming next. I definitely recommend it if you like dark academia.

What are you currently reading?

I started both The Atlas Paradox (audiobook) and Paris Daillencourt Is About to Crumble today. So, I don’t really have any thoughts on them yet. I’m technically still reading Empire of the Vampire, as well, even though I haven’t read any of it since last week. I think I might end up DNFing this one for now because I’m just not in the mood for it. I like it, though, and definitely plan to finish it eventually. We’ll see. I may catch a second wind this week and make a ton of progress now that we’re getting closer to Halloween. 🤷‍♂️

What will you read next?

I plan to finish listening to the Captive Prince Trilogy since I didn’t get to it last week thanks to library holds. I’m also going to finally start the Adam Binder books, which I’m pretty excited about. I’ve wanted to read them for a while, and I need to get to my overdue ARC of the third book in the trilogy.

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Reading Winter’s Orbit is my one HAVE TO READ for November, especially because of Sci-Fi Month. It is time!! I also have A Deadly Education sitting on my shelf, hoping to pick that up by the end of the year.

  2. Oof, The Witch Hunt sounds rough 😂 I reckon I won’t be going near that one based on your reaction to it, lol. Deadly Education has been on my TBR for ages now and I’ve seen some mixed reviews but I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it. Hopefully, I’ll get to it soonish! I hope you enjoy your reads 🙂

    • Yeah. The Witch Haven duology was a bit of a disappointment. I liked the middle parts of The Witch Hunt the best out of the two books, but the rough beginning and infuriating ending just ruined it for me. Deadly Education was interesting, but I can definitely see why it would’ve gotten mixed reviews. The MC wasn’t very likeable, and the diversity felt a bit shallow. I just thought the magic, monsters, and set up of the school was super interesting. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
