Book Haul – February 2023

For such a short month, I sure did haul a lot of great books. I was hoping I’d spend less in February, but I actually ended up spending even more than in January, $176.91 not including book boxes. I got tons of great stuff, though. I think at least part of my increased shopping this month was due to feeling like crap for half of the month thanks to COVID. Once I was better, I wanted to celebrate and couldn’t think of a better way than new books. lol. I didn’t use the library quite as much in February, but I’m more than making up for it in March already. I’ve had what seems like a billion holds come in all at once, which is both stressful and exciting. It is also important to note that I unhauled 20 books in February, as well. So, I made a little space on my shelves for all the newbies. 🙂

  1. I really enjoyed GodKiller and I’m looking forward to getting The day of Fallen Night from the library but it sometimes takes a while for them to put new books into circulation so I’m having to be patient.

    • Yeah. My library takes FOREVER to get new print books into circulation. I’ve had some take 6 months before finally getting them. Most of the time, I just use the digital services now because those are available instantly, and I’m super impatient. lol.

  2. So many of these covers are so eye-catching! I want to read Almost the Always and Godkiller! I can’t wait to check them out. I hope you enjoy all these books (if you haven’t already read them yet, lol)! 😃

    • I just finished Always the Almost this morning. I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I enjoyed reading the contemporary trans perspective because I don’t read a ton of those books, but the main character was super self-absorbed for most of the book. I really hated how he treated the love interest, and there was a cheating subplot that really wasn’t handled well, in my opinion. I still liked the book overall, though. I’m curious to see your thoughts once you’ve read it!

  3. One day I will read Ninth House, I swear it. I made the very hard decision to not request The Lost War because I’m trying to make room for backlist and that was the cut I decided to make. Looking forward to finding out if I made a huge mistake!

    • The copies I got of Ninth House and Hell Bent were the Illumicrate special editions. I listened to the audio books from the library and liked them enough to pounce when they were announced. I probably should have cut The Lost War from my requests because I am ETERNALLY behind, but it sounded really cool. So, yeah. I have no self control. lol.

  4. Would be curious to know your thoughts on Godkiller once you get around to it. I ended up skipping that one in my Illumicrate sub because I saw a fair number of middling reviews. Figured I could borrow it from the library whenever it gets published here. Bloodmarked, though, I’m definitely curious about…I see so many positive reactions/commentary about Legendborn + Bloodmarked. Enjoy your acquisitions!

    • I decided to go ahead and get Godkiller because I assumed the special edition would look great. It does. I’ve heard mostly good things about it, but I haven’t really sought out reviews on Goodreads or anything, just the ones I’ve seen pass by on blogs I follow. I’m very excited to finally be getting to Legendborn. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I hope to read it this month because it is perfect for the boarding school trope. My physical copy from Book Outlet (I went on a spree during their fiction sale, which will be featured in March’s book haul post 🤣) just arrived, and I cannot wait to dive in.

      • I love Book Outlet! I almost ordered Legendborn when I saw it on there a few weeks ago, but held myself back because, um, huge backlog. But I hope you love it as much as everyone else seems to! And yes, the Godkiller SE looks gorgeous, but idk, so far I don’t regret my decision to skip it lol.
