WWW Wednesday (45) – March 15, 2023

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

Today’s update will be briefer than usual because I’m not feeling that great and have an awful headache. Here’s everything I’ve finished reading this week:

Solomon’s Crown by Natasha Siegel – 3.75 ⭐ – See my review!

The Mimicking of Known Successes by Malka Older – 4⭐ – This was a great sci fi detective story with a good mystery, interesting characters, and a delightfully awkward second-chance sapphic romance.

Rubicon by J. S. Dewes – 4.75⭐ – See my review!

You & I, Rewritten by Chip Pons – 3.25⭐ – This was a solid MM romance set in a publishing house. So, there was plenty of bookish goodness. I liked the main character, and his struggle with mental health was well-written, but the characterization of the love interest just felt inconsistent and jarring. At the end, the book got super heavy and switched focus from the romance to the effects of addiction and mental health on family. I liked it, and it made me cry. It just felt almost like two different books sandwiched together.

The Magician’s Daughter by H.G. Parry – 4.25⭐ – I enjoyed this book so much. Hutch was absolutely adorable. I now want my own cuddly familiar. lol. It was a great coming-of-age story, and I liked the way the story used the idea of the dwindling magic. However, the end of the book kind of went against the themes of moderation and conservation, and I felt it muddled the message a bit.

On or Off Vol. 1 & 2 by A1 – 5⭐ – I finally read some manga! I feel like it has been forever since I picked one up. I’ve officially upgraded my smut reading to include illustrations. This story was equal parts hilarious, horny, and hardcore. lol. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for uncensored, BL manga.

What was my favorite of the week? My favorite novel of the week was definitely Rubicon. Be sure to check out my review to find out why!

What are you currently reading?

Untethered Sky by Fonda Lee (15%) – I’m enjoying this one so far. I’m a huge fan of Fonda Lee, and it is fun reading her create a new world outside the Green Bone Saga.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (22%) – I’ve made a little progress on this one. I’m still enjoying it, and I’ve liked seeing Lucien’s reaction to everything. I still love him despite everything he’s done, and I’m curious to see how his relationship with Elain unfolds.

Something Wild & Wonderful by Anita Kelly (61%) – This book is so good. The main characters are adorably clueless, and I love the setting of falling in love on a hiking trail.

What will you read next?

I’m just going to leave these the same as last week. lol. Maybe I’ll actually decide to pick them up this week?

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

  1. “I’ve officially upgraded my smut reading to include illustrations.” — LOL, I love it! I haven’t yet ventured into the BL manga world but I’m digging the cover illustrations! I’ve got Unethered Sky on my TBR and I can’t wait to read something set outside of Kekon but I wonder if it’ll be weird at the same time 😂 I hope you continue enjoy all your reads!
