Manga Monday – On or Off Vols. 1 & 2 / March Manga Haul

It has been forever since I’ve done a Manga Monday post… mostly because I haven’t been reading any manga for a while. I stumbled upon used copies of a BL manga on Pango and couldn’t resist ordering the first two volumes. (Side note: Pango has become a damn addiction… I’ve ordered so much stuff, and I cannot seem to stop. Please send help before I’m buried alive under all the book mail.) My wife has been trying to get me to read BL manga forever, and now I see why. I devoured the two volumes in one day and immediately went in search of others. Let’s just say I now have enough to last a while, which you’ll see down below. lol. First things first, though, here’s what I thought of the first two volumes of On or Off by A1.

In this volume, which covers the first two chapters, Ahn joins a friend’s start up. When he goes to pitch their big project, he fumbles the presentation and decides to track down the company’s director to beg for another chance. One thing leads to another, and Ahn agrees to sleep with the director if he promises to look at their proposal. Of course, his team’s work is actually good, and they get the job, which leads to awkwardness aplenty.

I really liked this book. It was printed in full color, which I wasn’t expecting. Apparently, it was originally a webtoon. It was explicit enough to make me blush. 😳 Seriously though, avoid this series if you don’t want to see hardcore explicit illustrations because they are not tame. lol. The main character, Ahn, was a neurotic mess most of the time, and it paired well with Director Kang’s dominant daddy energy. The beginning of their tryst was a little skeevy but in a hot sort of way. It definitely left me interested in seeing how their personal and business relationships will unfold in future installments. I have a suspicion there will be plenty of hot, and hilarious, times ahead.

What do you know? Hotness and hilarity did ensue. lol. In volume 2, the characters fell into an awkwardly cute office routine before eventually falling back into bed together. However, Director Kang made it clear that it would never happen again, which left Ahn lovesick and hungry for more. Matters were complicated by all the mixed signals Kang was giving at the office. So, Ahn struggled to decide if he should take matters into his own hands and make a move…

This volume was just as hilarious and just as explicit as the first one. My favorite thing about it, though, was the office environment and the awkward strain between Kang and Ahn, along with the impact it had on Ahn’s cooky team. It was just so much fun to read, and the cliffhanger made me pre-order volume 3 right away. 🙂

As I mentioned before, I went on quite the shopping spree once I realized just how much I enjoyed these books. Here’s everything I picked up and hope to read soon:

Have you read any of these or have any of them on your TBR? Let me know what you think down in the comments! I’d also love to hear any recommendations of other manga, BL or otherwise, that you’ve enjoyed.

  1. The only one on your list that I’ve read is Way of the House Husband and it’s fun! 😃 The others look great too though and you’ve definitely piqued my interest. All these covers are so pretty too 😍 I hope you end up enjoying all of these, Chris!
