Monthly TBR – November 2023

A new month means it is time for a new TBR. I’ve continued to split things into a ‘need to read’ pile and a possibility pile for mood reading. I’m sure I’ll probably also read stuff that isn’t listed anywhere in this post, as well, but these are the books I’d definitely like to get to this month.

Need to Read

I have a few ARCs to read this month, as well as some new releases I’m excited to read. Just like last month, I’ve left three spaces blank for books that fit a particular challenge: TBR tin, series read, and re-read. I’m not picking the books in advance for the series and re-read challenges because I almost always seem to want to read something other than what I’ve chosen for them. lol. So, I plan to just fill them in as I go along. My TBR tin pick will be announced on my socials later this evening. I will be picking an unread special edition book at random from my shelves.

I’m currently still reading several books that I started last month. I still need to finish Curious Tides by Pascale Lacelle, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, and The Blighted Stars by Megan E. O’Keefe. One of these is a holdover from last month’s TBR, but the rest are mood reads that I plan to finish but won’t be including in my ‘need to read’ TBR for this month.

Here are the 7 books I will (hopefully) read for sure this month:

  • One Night in Hartswood by Emma Denny (πŸ“± ARC)
  • Gwen & Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher (πŸ“± ARC)
  • All the Hidden Paths by Foz Meadows (πŸ“± ARC)
  • Shadow Baron by Davinia Evans (πŸ“– ARC)
  • A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid (πŸ“– owned)
  • A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara (πŸ“– owned)
  • Curious Tides by Pascale Lacelle (πŸ“– owned)

Possibility Pile

I’ve also made a short list of some books I’m currently in the mood to read. Does this mean I’ll read them this month? I’d like to, but these books are less of a priority than my ‘need to read’ pile. It’s also possible I won’t be in the mood for them anymore when I go to pick a book, but these are the ones I’d want to read if I picked today:

The Woman in Me by Britney Spears, The Temple of Fortuna by Elodie Harper, Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros, The Celestial Toymaker by Gerry Davis & Alison Bingeman, The Misfit Mage and His Dashing Devil by MN Bennet

Are any of these books on your TBR? Have you already read them? If so, what did you think? Let me know down in the comments!

  1. Nice list..!!!! I guess I too can’t escape the hype of Iron Flame. And I’ve been thinking of picking up The Blighted Stars, so I’ll look forward to your thoughts about it. Gwen and Art was pretty cute, so I hope you enjoy it too.

    • I just started Iron Flame yesterday and am enjoying it so far. The Blighted Stars was good. It was a bit confusing at times, but the ideas were really cool. I loved the setting of being stranded on a hostile planet and all the mysteries. I’ll be moving on to the second book soon.

I’m really looking forward to Gwen and Art. It looks so freaking cute, and I’m excited to finally be getting to it. I hope I enjoy it!

  2. I haven’t ready any of them, but that Doctor Who book looks interesting! I’ll be looking for your thoughts on that one, for sure! I’m still not sure how you come up with a TBR for the WHOLE month. I’d love to learn this magic from you. I usually have a genre for the month, but that’s about it.

    • I’m really looking forward to the Doctor Who book. It is a novelization of one of the missing first doctor stories that includes the villain returning in the 60th anniversary specials. So, I’m hoping to read it before the specials air.

As for the TBR, it isn’t really magic, just hopeful thinking. lol. It’s not going well so far this month. I’ve been mood reading a lot in the last week. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back on track as the month goes on… If not, oh well.
