The Modern Day Christmas Song Book Tag (Christmas 2025)

Hello, everyone! It’s been a couple of years since I did this tag. So, I thought it would be perfect for a Christmas Eve post. I hope you are all having a great holiday so far. Thank you to Elli @ AceReader for creating this Modern Day Christmas Song Book Tag!

Underneath the Tree by Kelly Clarkson

A book you want to find under the Christmas tree this year.

I recently read the first book of a new (to me) series, Spellslinger, and loved it. So, I wanted physical copies of all of them for my shelves. I used my Christmas money from my parents, which arrived a bit early, to buy the first four books on eBay, and I’m hoping they will be here before Christmas (edit: They’re not. 🤣).

Spellslinger, Shadowblack, Charmcaster, & Soulbinder by Sebastien de Castell

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Michael Bublé

A book to get in the festive mood.

I read Good Spirits by B.K. Borison a few weeks ago, and it definitely put me in the holiday spirit. If you’ve ever wondered about what it might be like to fall in love with the ghost of Christmas past, this one is for you.

Mistletoe by Justin Bieber

A guilty pleasure read.

I can’t think of anything that I’ve read this year that falls into this category. I don’t typically feel guilty about what I read. So, this is always a tough one for me to pick something for. The song is great, though. 🙂

One More Sleep by Leona Lewis

A book release you’re counting down the days for.

There are so many great releases coming in 2026! Here’s a handful with publication dates in the first half of the year that I’m counting down the days until I get them in my hands. 🙂

A War of Wyverns by S. F. Williamson, Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett, The Last Contract of Isako by Fonda Lee, The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty

Christmas Lights by Coldplay

A book cover that looks as pretty as Christmas lights.

I love a good cover almost as much as a good story. These five are my favorites of all the books I’ve read so far this year:

The Palace of Illusions by Rowenna Miller, A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett, Masquerade by O.O. Sangoyomi, Hazelthorn by CG Drews, The Hymn to Dionysus by Natasha Pulley

There you have it! My take on the Modern Day Christmas Song Book Tag. If you’d like to participate, consider yourself tagged!

  1. Fun!! I recently read Good Spirits and it did the same for me! It was so cute and I never read holiday books. haha. I have been wanting to get to that series by Sebastien De Castell for years and have never done it! I hope you have a Merry Christmas, Chris!

    • They got here the day after Christmas! I’ll be reading the rest of the series early in the new year, and I’m so excited about it. I loved the first book and can’t wait to see where the series goes.
