May 2026 Mid-Month TBR Update

Since I never got around to posting my May hopefuls here on the blog at the start of the month, I figured that a mid-month check-in would be the next best thing. So, here’s a brief look at how April went for me, as well as a snapshot of how I’m doing with my hopefuls for this month so far.

Recap of Last Month

April was a bit of a mixed bag. I finished three of my six priority hopefuls and DNFd another. I was also reading one of them at the time the month ended, which I’ve now finished. As a reminder, here were my priority reads for last month, along with my rating for them:

I also finished some other books in April for a total of 11 books, 4542 pages, and an average rating of 4.11 stars. That is quite a lot less than I managed in March, but oh well. Here’s a quick look at everything I read along with some stats from StoryGraph:

May 2026 Priority Hopefuls (An Update)

I’ve stuck with six books again for my priority reads in May. Three of them are May ARCs, The Last Contract of Isako by Fonda Lee, The Republic of Memory by Mahmud El Sayed, & The Rainshadow Orphans by Naomi Ishiguro. I’ve rounded out my priority reads with a buddy read with Dini of Faithbreaker by Hannah Kaner, a buddy read with Celeste of The Geomagician by Jennifer Mandula, & a leftover ARC from April, A Murder Most Camp by Nicolas DiDomizio. I’ve already managed to finish both of my buddy reads and have started two of my May ARCs. Hopefully I can manage to get the rest of these books wrapped up before the end of May. Fingers crossed!

Well. That was my May 2026 mid-month TBR update! Do we have any hopefuls in common this month? Happy reading!
