July 2026 Hopefuls (AKA My TBR)

It’s a new month! That means it is time to share a new TBR. I may be biting off more than I can chew this month with high hopes of tackling backlog ARCs while simultaneously trying to get ahead on some releasing in August. We’ll see how it goes, I guess. It can’t get much worse than last month. 🤣 Without further ado, let’s dive into my July 2026 hopefuls and a brief recap of my reading from last month!

Recap of Last Month

June was pretty much a massive failure when it came to my TBR. lol. I only finished TWO out of my six priority reads. In my defense, I was busy with other stuff. My garden and my trip to Baltimore, MD took up most of my focus last month. So, the quantity of books I read naturally took a big dip. Thankfully, the quality of my reads was mostly good, though. As a reminder, here were my priority reads for last month, along with my rating for the ones I read:

  • The Silent Paths of Night by David R. Slayton (4.25⭐)
  • We Burned So Bright by TJ Klune (NOT READ)
  • International Relations by Zac Hammett (NOT READ)
  • Our Rogue Fates by Sarah Glenn Marsh (3.5⭐)
  • Bromantasy by Maire Roche (NOT READ)
  • Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab (NOT READ)

I did finish a few other books in June for a total of 7 books, 2812 pages, and an average rating of 4.07 stars. That is approximately half of my usual amount of both books and pages. 😭 Oh well. At least it was a really great month for me otherwise. Fantasy was the top genre of the month, which was no surprise. Here’s a quick look at everything I read along with some stats from StoryGraph:

July 2026 Priority Hopefuls

I’m sticking with six books again for my priority reads in July despite my abysmal failure last month. lol. Two of them are July ARCs, The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance by Chiara Bullen & The Witch Below the Dreaming Wood by H.G. Parry. I’ve also chosen two of my August ARCs in an attempt to get a bit ahead, Sunsplitter by S.A. MacLean & Trade of Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett. The final two spots are taken by one of my spurned priority picks from last month, We Burned So Bright by TJ Klune, and a book that I’ve had for a while with a sequel coming out this month, Arcana Academy by Elise Kova.

Other July 2026 Hopefuls

I probably shouldn’t even pick other hopefuls given how last month went, but I’m going to do it anyway. 😊 I’m going to try to focus on some of my backlog ARCs with these hopefuls. Some of them are years overdue. Oops. Hopefully, I’ll manage to finish at least one or two of them this month. With that in mind, here are all of my other July hopefuls:

The Fire Within Them by Matthew Ward, Witch Queen of Redwinter by Ed McDonald, The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton, All We Have Is Time by Amy Tordoff

Well. Those are my July 2026 hopefuls. I’d love to read everything listed on this page, but that is unlikely. If I make it through six of them, I’ll consider June to be a success! Do we have any hopefuls in common this month? Happy reading!

  1. Good Luck with getting ahead with your ARCs. I would do better if I didn’t give into temptation so often and read them completely out of order. I have 4 to read with July dates but I have read one with an Aug date and one with an October date!!
I started the H G Parry at lunch time today and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve never read anything by this author before so I’m looking forward to it.
I hope that you manage to read all of your 6 TBR books. A Trade of Blood is just soooo good.
