Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday. This meme was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.
This week’s theme is an Indie Freebie. So, I’ve decided to highlight some of my favorite indie authors and the books that made me a fan. I’ve read quite a few indie books over the years, which made it hard to narrow down this list. My reading tends to skew more towards traditionally published books these days, but I do still love to check out indie titles that catch my eye. There’s so much diversity and so many cool ideas to explore. Without further ado, here are the authors and books I chose (covers link to Goodreads):

I had Thirteenth Hour on my list today as well. I still need to read Legacy of Brightwash and The Reanimator’s Heart, but I’ve heard great things about both, especially the former 🙂 Can’t wait to check them out!
My Kickstarter special edition of Legacy of the Brightwash just arrived a few days ago, and it is STUNNING. Seeing it has me craving a re-read so that I can finally pick up the sequel. I definitely think you’d like it.
I’ve read Tru’s book, Kara’s book, and books other than the ones pictured by Bennet and Crunden. If you like these, check out AK Faulkner’s Inheritance series, starting with Jack of Thorns. It has really similar vibes to a lot of these. Also Cat Rector’s A Goddess of Nothing at All.
Jack of Thorns has been on my TBR forever, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I swear I will one day… hopefully soon. I’ve heard of Cat Rector’s book, too, but don’t know too much about it. I guess I’m off to add it to my TBR, too. lol. Thanks for the recommendations!

The Thirteenth Hour sounds so good, I’m always looking for more Steampunk stories so adding to my tbr. And this is the second time I see Three Meant to Be in a couple of days and now I’m curious. Kie & Basie is on my tbr and I’m excited to read it!

The Thirteenth Hour was really good. I still need to read the rest of the series… Three Meant to Be was a fun read, too. I liked that it portrayed a magic school from the POV of the teacher, and the students were a hoot. I loved Kit & Basie, and I hope you enjoy it when you pick it up!
So much of this is on my TBR! I truly though Reanimist’s Heart, Academy Arcanist, and Founder’s Mercy would get read this year, but it isn’t looking likely. Somehow I’m reading more than ever before and it still doesn’t get me there. This is a great list, and happy to see Bennet repped!
