WWW Wednesday (156) – October 14, 2026

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

I have still been struggling to focus on reading, which means I once again only finished ONE book since last Wednesday. I think I need to just give up any notion of finishing most of my October priority reads. 🫤 The book I finished reading was The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne. I swear this book was the longest 500 pages of my life. It feels like I’ve been reading it forever. That being said, it was a pretty epic ending to the trilogy with a massive amount of cinematic battle scenes. I just wish the first half hadn’t been such a slog and that Snaka had gotten a bit more development. In the end, I settled on a rating of 4.25 out of 5 stars.

The Kaleidoscope by Jo Martin (8%) – I’m only a few chapters into this book, but I’m loving it already. The first person POV from the Doctor is a treat, and Martin being the author makes this truly feel like getting a peek into this Doctor’s head. Her writing oozes with the unique voice of the Fugitive Doctor, and I can’t wait to see where this story takes me.

Born of Malice by Xan Van Rooyen (35%) – I’m so intrigued by this book. The family drama of these ridiculous demigods born of Death is so fun to read. The magic is fascinating, and I’m super curious about what happened to split this dysfunctional family apart so bad. I also hope that the magic versus science angle gets explored in more depth as the story goes on.

Written in Starlight by Sloane Brooks (57%) – I’ve made some progress on this book over the last week. I didn’t love the back-and-forth format in part one all that much despite understanding its necessity, but the story has shifted to one POV from part two up to where I’m currently at. I’ve been enjoying it a lot more since the shift. It’s such a fun story about what would happen if Cinderella and Han Solo somehow ended up crossing into each other’s lives. lol. I look forward to seeing how it all wraps up.

What will you read next?

Not much has changed on this front since last week because I only finished the one book. My next eARC read will be Scorpion Deep by CG Drews, which I’m so excited to read. My next audiobook will be Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo as long as my library borrow doesn’t expire before I get to it. Finally, my next physical read will be Be Still My Unbeating Heart by Josh Winning.

Scorpion Deep by CG Drews, Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo, Be Still My Unbeating Heart by Josh Winning

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!

  1. I’m looking forward to Written in Starlight. But I hear you about having a hard time concentrating on reading lately. For me it’s just because of a work trip. I switched to a novella which I expect I’ll finish today.
