New Year’s Book Tag (2024)

Hello, everyone! Today I’m doing the New Year’s Book Tag! This tag was originally created by booktuber Heather @Bookables.

How many books are you planning to read in 2024?

I’ve decided to keep my 2024 Goodreads goal the same as the last few years at 100 books. I’ll likely end up reading more than this again, but we’ll see how the year goes.

Name 5 books you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2024.

Hah! There are way more than five, but here are some that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Hopefully, that will translate into actually picking them up soon…

The House of Always by Jenn Lyons, Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare, Dark Rise by C. S. Pacat, One for My Enemy by Olivie Blake, Godkiller by Hannah Kaner

What genre do you want to read more of?

Last year, I said I wanted to read more sci fi. I did read more sci fi than usual, but it was still largely outweighed by fantasy. So, I think I’m going to be boring and just pick science fiction again. lol. I can’t really think of any other genre I’d like to prioritize.

Name 3 non-book-related goals for 2024

  • Play more video games. I recently got a new gaming laptop and want to spend more time playing games. I’ve got Baldur’s Gate 3, The Sims, and the Star Wars: Fallen Order just begging for attention. I just need to close a book long enough to play them…
  • Increase my lung capacity. My lung has been struggling recently. My asthma has made it really hard to do anything without needing to catch my breath. I recently started some new medicine that seems to maybe be helping, and I need to start engaging in more regular activity to help, as well.
  • Take at least one trip. This was one of my goals last year, as well. I ended up going to Boston, which was a lot of fun. I don’t know where I’ll end up going this year, but I definitely want to travel again.

What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

I’ve wanted to read The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue for years. I own the entire trilogy, but I haven’t actually read any of them. They seem like something I’d really enjoy, and I don’t have any excuse for avoiding them other than there not being enough hours in the day to read all the things I’d like to. Hopefully, 2024 will be the year I finally get to it!

One word that you’re hoping 2024 will be

I hope 2024 will be BORING. With everything going on in the world and the potential need to move soon, there’s a good chance that my life will be full of change. I just hope that everything this year goes smoothly and doesn’t lead to a ton of extra stress. I just want an easy year without loads of chaos. lol.

I won’t be tagging anyone in this one, but if you would like to participate, feel free to do so. Be sure to link your post down below if you do because I’d love to read them. 🙂

  1. I have mine set to 100 books. I definitely will read more, but I don’t want to pressure myself lol. I want to play more games too! I haven’t played sims in awhile and I am ready to build a house. 😂 I have been playing too much World of Warcraft though.

    • I’ve never really been much of a gamer, but I do enjoy it and want to get more into it. I really like the monotony of the Sims. lol. It lets me worry about their fake little lives instead of my own. 🤣

  2. Not sure about boring as a word. I think I would like mine to be calm as I don’t like being bored. Travelling is always good so I hope that you do manage to get to at least one new place in 2024.
