Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas – 4⭐ – Hmmm. How do I describe this book? It reminded me of the first book but better. lol. So much focus in this installment is on the training of certain characters, which was really reminiscent of the training and competition from the first book. This book, however, had training of magical powers, which was much more interesting (to me), and I loved all the additions to the world-building. The new characters were all fantastic, and I cannot wait to see what the witches get up to next. My main qualm with this one is that it felt a bit like filler. There was so much focus on world-building, training, and setting up the next round of conflict that not a whole lot happened until the end. Oh goodness, though. What an ending it was!!!!
The Slain Divine by David Dalglish – 3.75⭐ – I enjoyed this conclusion to the Vagrant Gods trilogy. It had lots of exciting fights and some really great themes. I just had some trouble with the first half because the plot felt like it was spinning its wheels a bit, which ultimately made the ending feel a little rushed because so much was packed into the back half of the book. It wrapped things up well, though, and left some space for further adventures in this world if the author chooses to return to it in the future.
Song of Silver, Flame Like Night by Amelie Wen Zhao – 4⭐ – I’m really glad I decided to re-read this one ahead of tackling the sequel. I’d forgotten how absolutely devastated I was by the ending. 😭😭😭 I really loved the characters in this story, and I want all the best for them. I fear that they’ll only be getting more trauma in the sequel, though.

What are you currently reading?
The City of Stardust by Georgia Summers (81%) – I’m so close to the end of this one, and I can not wait to see how it all turns out. I’ve really enjoyed the writing, mystery, and general vibe of this book a lot.
Dark Star Burning, Ash Falls White by Amelie Wen Zhao (14%) – This book is off to such a fascinating start. I’m happy to be back with these characters even though the circumstances they find themselves in are kind of horrible. I’m super curious to see where this one goes and how things end for the main characters.
Swann’s Way by Marcel Proust (15%) – I didn’t have a chance to read any more of this book over the last week. I’m going to try to read at least a little this week, though. I’m looking forward to diving back in to Proust’s unique prose.

What will you read next?

The Atlas Complex by Olivie Blake, The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas, Breeze Spells and Bridegrooms by Sarah Wallace & S.O. Callahan
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
I’m 55% in City of Stardust right now and I’m dying to know where this is going!! haha. I feel like it’s been a rather quick read. I hope you have a great week!
Glad to hear you have been enjoying The City of Stardust! I am going to be starting it today and I am so excited! Hopefully the ending is good, haha.
Ooh, Breeze Spells and Bridegrooms looks so fun! I haven’t heard of that one at all before but would be curious to know your thoughts on it. I really enjoyed the Song of the Last Kingdom duology and I hope you find the ending satisfying. 😃 Happy reading!
Breeze Spells and Bridegrooms will be my next read, and I plan to have my review up on Thursday. It is forever all over my Instagram feed, and I thought it looked adorable. So, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get an eARC. 🙂
I just finished the second book of the Song of the Last Kingdom duology today. I did find the ending satisfying, just a little sad. The last chapter had me tearing up.
