WWW Wednesday (94) – April 24, 2024

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

Night of the Witch by Sara Raasch & Beth Revis – 3.25⭐ – This book was fine. It had some interesting twists and turns, and I liked the characters well enough. Although, I’ll be honest. I’m struggling to even remember the details of the book, and it hasn’t even been a week since I finished it.

The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso – 4.25⭐ – I loved this book. It was a great mix of political intrigue, magical mayhem, and murder mystery. I was excited to be back in this world, and Caruso did not disappoint. You can read all my thoughts in my review!

What are you currently reading?

Misery Bay by Owen Lach (67%) – I’ve been struggling with this one, which makes me sad because I like the series and the author. There are some cool things happening in the story. There are finally some long-awaited answers, and I still find the world and its history really fascinating. I’m just not really feeling the never-ending journey. I’m not a huge fan of the quest trope, and we’re now in book three of this same quest. There are still some great relationship moments between the characters, though, and the main character is experiencing growth. I just don’t know. Maybe it’s a me thing, and this book just doesn’t fit my mood at the moment. This one’s going to be tough to review.

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas (53%) – Maybe I’m just feeling slumpy because this book is a bit of a slog, too. I’ve enjoyed getting to see a different locale in this world, but this book is like a screeching halt to the pace after all the excitement and action of the previous book. I definitely get why a lot of people recommend the tandem read. That just would’ve been way too much to navigate while listening to the audiobooks. Also, the spider creatures are creepy AF.

What will you read next?

Swordcrossed by Freya Marske, Relics of Ruin by Erin M. Evans, The Sins on Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I still haven’t got around to reading Exiles of Empire and really must find a copy soon. It never seems to have been published in the UK though for some reason.

  2. At least one of the books you read was enjoyable! I totally get you with the slumpy feels. I read more last week than I have in a while but it took me ages to finally get that glorious feeling of being sucked into a new world! I hope your ongoing reads pick up and whatever you read next will be better 🙂

    • Thank you. Luckily, I’m enjoying the books I’m reading now. I’m still just so antsy, though, and don’t really want to sit still long enough to read much. Work around the house has been eating up most of my time this week. At least I’m being productive? lol.
