Top Ten Tuesday – Books I Was Super Excited to Get My Hands on but Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday - Books Set in a School

Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.

This week’s theme is Top Ten Books I Was Super Excited to Get My Hands on but Still Haven’t Read. This list could be so much longer than ten. lol. I have so many books that I’m dying to read. It often leads to decision paralysis, which means I ultimately pick up even more books because getting something new is the only way to break through being stuck on what to get from my shelves. Without further ado, here are ten books that I rushed to add to my shelves only to have them languish there indefinitely. The covers link to Goodreads in case any of them catch your eye!

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, Defy the Storm by Tessa Gratton & Justina Ireland, The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting by KJ Charles, Tadek and the Princess by Alexandra Rowland, The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown

Evergreen by Devin Greenlee, Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare, A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid, Teacher of the Year by M. A. Wardell, Otherworldly by F. T. Lukens

There you have it! Ten books I was super excited to get my hands on but still haven’t read. Have you read any of these? Let me know down in the comments!

    • I have that problem, too. There are plenty of overdue NetGalley eARCs on my shelf. I am curious about Book of Doors, though, and it is one that I actually bought for my physical shelf. Hopefully we’ll both get to it soon!

  1. I have seen Sword Catcher on so many lists. It’s on my wish list but I really need to see more people reading it before I commit! haha. I hope you get to some of these and enjoy them! I haven’t read any of these, but very curious about Book of Doors!

    • Thank you! I was so excited about Sword Catcher because I wanted to see how Clare did with writing something new. Every time I think about picking it up I’m just not in the mood for it. I’ll get to it one day.

      • Yeah, that’s exactly how I feel about it!!! I don’t know if it’s because I’ve struggled a bit with her latest few.. so it just seems like a mood killer before I even start.

  2. I feel the same way about new releases lol. It also feels so overwhelming because so many come out on the same day or near each other.
