WWW Wednesday (106) – July 17, 2024

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

The Bound Worlds by Megan E. O’Keefe – 4.75⭐ – This was such a great finale to The Devoured Worlds trilogy. It was exciting and emotional. I even teared up a bit during the last few chapters. The main characters were put through the wringer in their quest to save humanity from the double threat of a universe expanding out of control and the infestation of a mind-bending pathogen. Some of the technical explanations were too mind-boggling for me, but I still had a great time with this one.

Temptation of the Force by Tessa Gratton – 5⭐ – I have a new favorite entry of The High Republic. This book was so good. It had so many things going on, and the author managed to somehow bring balance to it all. I loved how the topic of love was approached in this story. There was a beautiful conversation between Yoda and one of the other characters that left me wondering where this Yoda was when Anakin was struggling. The ending left my jaw on the floor, and I’m very curious to see how this story gets wrapped up with only one more wave of books before this phase ends.

Everything for You by Chloe Liese – 4.75⭐ – This was so good! I don’t read a ton of sports romance, but I really liked this one. The dynamic between the two leads was very interesting because one of them was facing the end of his career while the other was only starting out. I also love a good grumpy/sunshine pairing, and this book delivered on that front. There was also a hilarious ‘only one bed’ scene that had me laughing out loud. I loved all of the emotion in the story, and it definitely tugged at my heartstrings. I can’t recommend it enough!

What are you currently reading?

The Ivory Tomb by Melissa Caruso (15%) – I decided to pick this one up on a whim because I really want to see how this trilogy ends. This story has come out of the gate swinging with tons of mayhem, and I’m so curious to see how the protagonists manage to beat back all of the demons. Needless to say, I’m hooked so far.

Angels Before Man by Rafael Nicolas (5%) – I just started this one, and I’m definitely intrigued by it. It is a queer retelling of the fall of Lucifer, and the first few chapters have depicted the birth of Lucifer. I’d never considered what the birth of an angel would be like, and this book did a great job of exploring what such an event might feel like from the perspective of a new angel.

What will you read next?

I’ve been super indecisive about what I want to read and have been mood reading because of it. I didn’t manage to start any of the books I listed in this section last week. So, I’ll just leave them here again even though my mood reading may keep them from being started in the near future. We’ll see.

The Fire Within Them by Matthew Ward, Navola by Paolo Bacigalupi, The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
