WWW Wednesday (120) – February 5, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

I finished FOUR books since last Wednesday! I’m feeling less slumpy these days and have been able to spend way more time focused on reading. It feels good! On to the books…

The Broposal by Sonora Reyes – 4.25⭐– This was both really cute and really heavy. The best friends/roommates to lovers arc was really well done, and I appreciated getting a look into the life of someone who is scared to lose everything because of potential deportation. It hit very hard because of everything going on in the U.S. right now. I did hate the ex-girlfriend, though, and her part in this book kept it from being a five-star read for me. She was insufferable, abusive, and I think the story’s sole foil should have been the immigration issues. Her extra drama was not needed.

Stranger Skies by Pascale Lacelle – 5⭐ – The rating for this one speaks for itself. This sequel blew away my expectations. You can find all my thoughts in my review.

The Dead Cat Tail Assassins by P. Djeli Clark – 4.5⭐ – I picked this audiobook up from the library on a whim, and I’m so glad I did. This was such an entertaining story about an undead assassin hired to off herself. The world was fascinating, and the writing was witty and engaging. I’ll definitely be reading more work by Clark in the future.

The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune – ???⭐ – I’m still digesting this one and haven’t settled on a star rating yet. I’ve been a fan of Klune for a long time. So, I was excited to get my hands on this re-release of one of his self-published novels a little early. Check back for a full review before the week’s end, but it is safe to say I enjoyed this one.

What are you currently reading?

Greenteeth by Molly O’Neill (7%) – I just started my buddy read of this one with Celeste. I’m not too far into it, but I like it so far. The main character is monstrous in a funny and naive sort of way. I look forward to seeing where the story takes her.

Ocean’s Godori by Amalie Howard (11%) – I stumbled across this book in Barnes & Noble when it first came out. The cover was so gorgeous that it caught my eye, but I decided not to buy it. Yay! Personal growth. lol. To my pleasant surprise, the library got the audiobook, and I decided to give it a chance. I’m not too far into it, and honestly, I don’t have a clue about what is happening so far. The writing is good, and the world-building is interesting. So, I’m curious to see where it goes.

What will you read next?

Here is where this month’s TBR currently stands. I’ve already knocked one pick out and am on to another!

As the month goes on, I plan to continue to focus on some February ARCs and library holds that have recently become available:

Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett, Unhallowed Halls by Lili Wilkinson, I Think They Love You by Julian Winters

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
