September 2026 Hopefuls (AKA My TBR)

It’s a new month! That means it is time to share a new TBR. I’ve been a bit absent over the last week or two because my cat and I have both been pretty ill. Thankfully, we are on the mend. So, I’m going to try to stay on top of comments and blog hopping a bit better. Without further ado, let’s dive into my September 2026 hopefuls and a brief recap of my reading from last month!

Recap of Last Month

I read quite a bit in the month of August. I read five out of my six priority reads and one of my other hopefuls. My feelings toward them were a bit more mixed compared to July’s stellar month, but there are a couple that will undoubtedly make my favorites of the year list. As a reminder, here were my priority reads for last month, along with my rating for the ones I read:

I also finished quite a few other books in August for a total of 14 books, 4846 pages, and an average rating of 3.93 stars. I did have one DNF, as well. Romance beat out fantasy for my top genre, but I’m pretty sure that’s only because my reading was fairly heavy on the romantasy in August. Here’s a quick look at everything I read along with some stats from StoryGraph:

September 2026 Priority Hopefuls

I’m sticking with six books again for my priority reads. All of them are September ARCs, Thoughts Be Bloody by Auden Patrick, Bodies of Magic by Freya Marske, Bright and Broken Things by Ryan Graudin, Isn’t He Romantic by Adib Khorram, The Darkness Bites Back by Laura R. Samotin & Ben Alderson, & The Invisible Roommate by Timothy Janovsky. It looks like it’s going to be all ARCs all the time in September. lol.

Other September 2026 Hopefuls

Since all of my priority reads are ARCs this month, I think I’m going to stack my other hopefuls with some relatively recent releases I haven’t been able to pick up yet. With that in mind, here are all of my other September hopefuls:

The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino, Be Still My Unbeating Heart by Josh Winning, Shadow Reaper by Lynette Noni, Half City by Kate Golden

Well. Those are my September 2026 hopefuls. I’d love to read everything listed on this page, but that is unlikely. If I make it through six of them, I’ll consider June to be a success! Do we have any hopefuls in common this month? Happy reading!

  1. I had just added The Invisible Roommate to my TBR!

I also think it may be time for me to try Pulley again. I really struggled with Mars House in ways that make me leery of trying her again, but The Salt King keeps getting rave reviews.

  2. Sorry that both you and the cat have been ill but glad to hear that you’re both improving. I really need to get round to reading the Salt King. I hope that you enjoy all of your September reads.

    • Yeah. I had a respiratory illness, which is rough with only one lung, and the cat has pancreatitis. He was vomiting everywhere, poor baby. Thankfully, we’re both feeling better now. I can’t wait to see what you think of The Salt King!

  3. Looks like you have some good reads ahead! I hope we both enjoy Bodies of Magic. I’ve read Be Still My Unbeating Heart, and it was pretty good. Just a little too goofy for my taste.

    • I’m enjoying Bodies of Magic so far. Although, the POV switches confused me at first, and I had trouble keeping track of all the characters in the beginning. I’m looking forward to Be Still My Unbeating Heart. I was hoping it would be a little goofy just based on the cover. So, hopefully I’ll enjoy that aspect of it more than you did. 😊

  4. I’m glad to hear that both you and your cat are on the mend and I hope you’ve been having a nice September 🙂 I still want to read Bridget & Gabe Are Not Okay because I loved the first one so much. Bright and Broken Things is on my radar too and sounds so good!! Your September hopefuls are full of ones I want to read too! Especially The Second Death of Locke and Be Still My Unbeating Heart.
