WWW Wednesday (155) – October 7, 2026

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

I still haven’t been in much of a reading mood… So, I’ve only finished ONE book since last Wednesday. 😬 Yikes. The book I finished reading was The Darkness Bites Back by Laura R. Samotin and Ben Alderson. I haven’t settled on a rating yet because I still need to sit down and collect my thoughts into a review. If you’re looking for a vampire romance laced with obsession and revenge, this story will likely scratch that itch.

The Fury of the Gods by John Gwynne (36%) – I’ll be honest. I’ve been struggling with this one a lot more than I thought I would. The battle scenes are epic, as always with this author, but everything just feels so drawn out so far. Like, I can feel the intentionality of moving the key players around to where they need to be for the final battle, and I just wish it seemed a bit more effortless? Maybe it is just the way the story jumps between POVs so much. I don’t know. That being said, there have been a couple of gut-punching moments that left me reeling, and I have no doubt that there’s more to come.

Born of Malice by Xan Van Rooyen (4%) – I’ve only just started this one, but I’m already interested in the magic system and world. So, we’re off to a good start.

Written in Starlight by Sloane Brooks (19%) – The premise of this book is a really interesting one. Two characters from different universes discover magical books that chronicle each other’s lives in real time. Then they start communicating between universes using the books. I love the idea. I’m not sure that I’m completely sold on the execution yet, though. We’ll see.

What will you read next?

My next eARC read will be Scorpion Deep by CG Drews, which I’m so excited to read. My next audiobook will be Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo, which is a library borrow. Finally, if I ever finish Fury of the Gods, my next physical read will still be The Kaleidoscope, which is the next entry in the Doctor Who Circuit Breaker story that I need to read.

Scorpion Deep by CG Drews, Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo, The Kaleidoscope by Jo Martin

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!

    • Eh. It’ll still be there when you’re ready for it. That’s one of the great things about books. They don’t spoil. 🙂 I understand, though. I looked at all the ARCs I have for the next couple of months, and it is daunting. I’ll be lucky to get them all done by the end of the year. I’m not super far behind at the moment, but I will be soon. Lol.
