Hello, everyone! It’s getting closer and closer to Christmas, and I really wanted to do at least one Christmas-themed book tag before I go on a brief hiatus from blog posts for the holidays. I saw this one at Fi’s Bibliofiles earlier today and thought it looked like fun. It was created by Jen of Jenniely, and the goal is to answer the bookish questions to find out if you will be on Santa’s naughty or nice list this year.
1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it
I’m not really sure exactly how to answer this one. I do have ARC’s that I haven’t read, but I am up to date on all the ones that are published. My general rule is to have the reviews posted on or before the publication date, as long as I get the ARC at least two weeks prior to publication. So, I’m gonna go with NO as my answer on this one since I’m actually on track right now. lol
2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
Nope. I’m hanging onto 60% by the skin of my teeth, though. It is currently 63%…
3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
This is another no. I’m up to date on reviews. There are a few books here and there that I don’t do full reviews for, but I usually decide those in advance and don’t promise that full reviews will be forthcoming for them.
4. Folded down the page of a book
NEVER! Only an absolute monster would do this. I cannot stand dog-eared pages and would never do this. EVER! I use anything within reach to act as a bookmark instead, usually trash of some sort. lol. But I do have some standards…I don’t use food wrappers.
5. Accidentally spilled on a book
Nope. I try my best to keep my books in great condition. Luckily, this year I haven’t spilled anything on any of them.
6. DNF a book this year
Another NO. I rarely ever DNF a book. There have been a couple times this year I seriously considered it, but not finishing a book gives me serious anxiety about not knowing what happened to the characters and FOMO. So, I haven’t DNFed anything in a long while.
7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
Finally a yes! Oh wait. That’s supposed to be a bad thing. lol. There have been quite a few impulse purchases this year based on looks alone, and I don’t think I’ve read a single one of them yet. I’ll probably get around to it eventually, but the purchase was made because I wanted to see them on my shelf.
8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
Yep. All the time. This is why my house is never as clean as it should be… #sorrynotsorry
9. Skim read a book
Yeah. I’ve done this occasionally. If the prose gets too flowery or the story bogs down, especially during a quest/journey, I’ll start to skim. I can’t help it. My attention span is pretty short.
10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal
Nope. I have already blown it away and am over 30 past the goal I set back in March. My first goal of the year was 30, I believe, which I met pretty early on and then bumped up to 100 in March.
11. Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library
No. I don’t think I’ve ever done this. I’m way too neurotic to not get my stuff in on time. I actually went out of my way earlier in the year to call the library when they didn’t check a book back in on time that I had already returned. I didn’t know they didn’t check them back in until after the book quarantine period was over. I was anxiously refreshing my account for days until they finally processed the return. Like I said…I’m quite neurotic.
12. Broke a book buying ban
Yeah. I lasted 8 out of the 31 days in October. I tried at least.
13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about
Luckily this hasn’t happened yet. I try to get my reviews finished as quickly as possible after I am done with a book to avoid this very thing from happening.
14. Wrote in a book you were reading
Absolutely not. This is up there with folding pages for me. It should be a punishable crime. 😉
15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
Nope. This is an instantaneous thing for me. The thing I find harder is wrangling and updating my TBR. I’ve created a new multi-shelf system that seems to be working okay for now…as long as I keep updating it.
16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
No. I haven’t borrowed a book from a friend this year. I don’t have many friends that read as much as I do.
17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
No. See the previous answer for the reason why…
18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book
What kind of monster do you think I am?! I’d be mortified if I did this, but I don’t really have anyone to borrow books from right now anyway. lol. So, the answer is no.
19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
I haven’t done this yet this year. I typically leave the jackets on now and use them to mark my spot when I don’t have a handy piece of trash to use as a bookmark. The reason I don’t remove them is I’ve lost them in the past. I’m actually looking at a book on one of my shelves right now that is jacketless due to the jacket being lost in the shuffle. And it looks sad. 🙁 So, no more removing jackets for me.
20. Sat on a book accidentally
Yeah. I’m pretty sure this has happened at one point. I just can’t remember any specific instance. I’ll often leave my book in bed next to me or in my chair, and they occasionally get sat on. I’ve never irreparably injured one that way, though. So, I’ve been lucky!
Total: 5/20
I made it on the nice list this year! Maybe this means I’ll get everything on the wishlist I posted earlier this week. One can hope right?!
I tag anyone who wants to participate!
