Hello, everyone! I’ve done this tag the last two years (2021 and 2022) and had fun with it. So, I thought I’d do it again. The Naughty or Nice Book Tag was created by Jen of Jenniely, and the goal is to answer the bookish questions to find out if you will be on Santa’s naughty or nice list this year.
1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it

I’ve managed to do a decent job this year of keeping up with my ARC reviews, but there are still quite a few I’ve received but not reviewed. I’m also ashamed to admit that I still have a couple ARCs from 2022 that need to be reviewed, but I did manage to knock one of those off my list this year. So, yay?
2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
My NetGalley ratio is the best it has ever been! I’m sitting at 90% right now, which I never thought I’d see. I’ve been a bit more selective about what I request, and I have been trying to stay on top of those I do get.

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)

I still don’t promise full reviews on Goodreads or Storygraph when I rate the books. So, this one doesn’t really apply to me. I do have some books on Storygraph that need ratings, though. I often seem to forget to do those…
4. Folded down the page of a book
My answer to this is still ABSOLUTELY NOT. I don’t think that answer will ever change.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

Nope. I did better this year than last year. lol. I’ve been careful, and there haven’t been any accidents. 🙂
6. DNF a book this year
I still don’t DNF a lot of books because I’m a bit obsessed with knowing how things will turn out even if I’m not having a good time. This year I DNFd 5 books, which is a lot for me.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

Yeah. This has continued to get worse this year. I’m a sucker for a pretty book, and I’ve bought lots of past book boxes this year not just for the nice book but also the items. Some of the books have actually gone directly to Pango…
8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
This happens almost every day. So, the answer is an absolute yes.

9. Skim read a book

Yeah. This has happened with some of the books I probably should have DNFd. I just really wanted to know what happened without spending all that time reading something I wasn’t enjoying.
10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal
I smashed my Goodreads goal again this year. My goal was 100 books. I’ve read 227 so far in 2023, which is the most books I’ve ever read in a year.

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library

Nope. I’ve mostly used digital resources this year, and those automatically get returned. So, forgetting to give stuff back isn’t really an issue.
12. Broke a book buying ban
No, but only because I didn’t bother doing one this year. 🙂

13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about

Yeah. I’m pretty bad about doing this one. When I finish one book, I’m typically excited to get to the next one and start it before writing a review. Sometimes this gets stretched out even further when I’m not in the mood to blog, which has happened a lot this year, unfortunately. I definitely forget some details when this happens… 😰
14. Wrote in a book you were reading
Nope. I still haven’t written in any of my books. I just don’t think I’m much of an annotator. I did, however, buy a book that was personally annotated by the author this year, which was pretty cool. I had fun getting all the extra insights.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

I’m pretty good about adding books to Goodreads. My Storygraph on the other hand is often a mess. I didn’t add books to it for almost three months and had to go back and add them in later. It was awfully tedious. lol. I’m going to try to keep up with it better next year.
16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
No. I haven’t borrowed a book from a friend this year. I still don’t have many friends that read as much as I do.

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

No. See the previous answer for the reason why…
18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book
Nope. I’m still not that much of a monster. 🙂

19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged

Thankfully, I have not damaged a dust jacket this year. I’ve always read with the jacket on the book, but this year I did start to read some of my books with the jackets off, especially special editions. I’m always worried the oil from my hands will mess them up.
20. Sat on a book accidentally
I’ve actually gotten much more organized this year, and I don’t typically have books lying around everywhere. However, the books I’m currently reading usually end up getting thrown around a bit. I have no doubt one of them got sat on at some point.

I love this tag and will have to fish my post from last year to look at. I’m definitely guilty of not updating Goodreads. I started to use Storygraph as well but that was a real disaster. I can’t keep up with one site let alone two.
My Storygraph has been A MESS. I skipped using it for the whole year last year, but I was determined to do better this year because I like the stats it gives. I haven’t done much better. lol. I’ve had to go back and put in months and months of data, but I’m caught up now.
I loved the pretty graphs that everyone shared last year but didn’t want to spend the time that it took 😳
This reminds me that I need to dig this one up too & see how my answers compare to last years. Good job having lots of “nice”! And I love your graphics for naughty ba nice!
The graphics were fun to make. I did them back in 2021 when I first did the tag because it looked super plain to me without them. I look forward to seeing how you did this year! Not a whole lot changed for me, but I’m glad the ‘nice’ column won out. 🤣
I can’t believe I forgot this tag existed! I loved your answers 😂 I think I need to do this one again soon!
I always forget which Christmas tags I’ve done until I go back to look at them, which is ridiculous since I do them every year. lol. This one is definitely fun, and I’d love to see your answers!! 🙂
[…] thought I did this Naughty or Nice Book Tag last year, but apparently I didn’t. Thanks to Chris for bringing it to my attention. The Naughty or Nice Book Tag was created by Jen of Jenniely, and […]
