Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
It has been a bit of a slow week. I finished Empire of Exiles and loved it. The mystery, stunning plot twists, and fascinating magic left me spell-bound, and I didn’t want to put the book down. I also read the new Star Wars: The High Republic middle grade novel, Quest for the Hidden City. It was a good story, but it seemed a little tangential to the larger narrative. The species and monsters were cool, and I liked seeing new pieces of the galaxy. I just wasn’t wowed by it as much as some of the other High Republic entries. The last book I finished was The Last Enchantment. I am loving this series and its take on Merlin’s story. Stewart’s interpretation of his ending was really moving and was an interesting departure from the common story while also retaining its integrity. Finally, I attempted to read The Stars Undying this week, but it wasn’t for me. The writing was unclear, and the world-building was very hard to follow. The characters didn’t hold my interest, and I was just bored with it. So, I DNFd it at 12%.
What was my favorite of the week? My favorite this week was Empire of Exiles. See my review to find out why!
What are you currently reading?
After my DNF of The Stars Undying, I decided to fall back on some characters I love, Alec and Magnus. I’m not very far into this one, but I’ve loved reading the little bit that I have about their cute family. I’ve also started listening to Half Bad because I loved THE BASTARD SON & THE DEVIL HIMSELF on Netflix. I’ve heard the books aren’t nearly as good as the show, but I still want to read them.
What will you read next?
I honestly don’t know what I want to read next, but it will probably be one of these two November ARCs that I still need to get to.
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
