August is always a really busy month, but it is one of my favorites. Why? Magical Readathon and Trope-ical Readathon both take place this month. These are my fave readathons, and I haven’t missed a round since I started blogging. So, I can’t start now. My plans for the month are AMBITIOUS, but I’m going in hoping for the best. 😁
Magical Readathon TBR
My first readathon this month is the Magical Readathon Autumn Equinox. You can find the general details for my character in a previous post. I haven’t really done a great job of keeping up with the guild points. So, I have no idea where he stands in that regard. I may just start over with recording them this term. Padwin is going back to Orilium to complete his fourth term. He is continuing to study to become a Dream Walker, and I’m excited to continue this journey with him. In order to earn the required grades in Padwin’s five subjects (Alchemy, Art of Illusion, Spells & Incantations, Psionics & Divination, and Lore), I need to read eight books:

I also plan to summon an impling this term and will be using Witch King by Martha Wells to complete the requirements. If you are interested in learning more about this round of the Magical Readathon, you can watch the announcement video embedded below!
Trope-ical Readathon
I’m also really excited to participate in the next round of Trope-ical Readathon. I’ve once again joined Team Science Fiction mostly because I want to read more sci fi and am hoping it will motivate me to do so. I don’t plan to set a separate TBR for Trope-ical Readathon this time. I plan to fill in the challenges as I go along throughout the month rather than picking specific books for the prompts. The general and team prompts are in the graphics below, and more information about this readathon can be found at Jen Jen Reviews. If you are interested in participating, you have until August 6 to sign up!

Even though I’m not picking books for particular prompts beforehand, I do have a possibility pile of books I’m hoping to read. I have my fingers crossed that they will actually fit some of the prompts. lol. Here’s some of the books I’m planning to read:

Kit & Basie by Tess Carletta, Hounded by Kevin Hearne, The Pattern of the World by J. T. Greathouse, Fake Dates and Mooncakes by Sher Lee, The Midnight Kingdom by Tara Sim

He Who Drowned the World by Shelley Parker-Chan, Forged by Blood by Ehigbor Okosun, Unexpecting by Jen Bailey, Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston, Prince of the Sorrows by Kellen Graves
Are any of these books on your TBR? Have you already read them? If so, what did you think? Let me know down in the comments!
Well, FORGED BY BLOOD could fulfill the Revenge or Love Triangle Common Challenges in Trope-ical Readathon! Ambitious list, indeed. I’ll just be happy if I can read 6-8 books on my Trope-ical list…I know 2 of them will be ARCs.
This is really good to know! I’ll probably use it for the Revenge challenge, but we’ll see. Good luck with the readathon! 🙂
Looks like you’re in for a packed month of reading in August and that’s awesome! 😃 One of these days I’m going to try the Trope-ical Readathon, I just have to get past the confusion I feel whenever I look at the prompts and teams. 😂 Good luck and happy reading!
If you can figure out the maze that is Magical Readathon, I think Trope-ical Readathon will be a piece of cake. You just pick a team based on the two team challenges and read whatever you want for all the general ones. Those don’t have to match your chosen genre. I guess technically the team ones don’t either as long as the book meets the prompt. The goal is just to read as much as you can to help your team succeed.
