Today I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week there is a new theme/topic, and participants choose ten books that fit it.
This week’s theme is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2023. I read so many new authors in 2023, which isn’t surprising since I read more books than ever last year. I’ve already come to love many of the authors, and these ten are at the top of that list. I hope to read more books by all of these authors in 2024. I’ve included both the authors and the book that made me fall in love with their writing. All covers link to Goodreads in case something catches your eye. 🙂

I read Priory of the Orange Tree last year too and found it so fascinating! It was a bit complicated, but I still really enjoyed it.
It definitely has a lot going on, but it was such an engrossing read. I’m glad you enjoyed it, too! 🙂
The only one of these I have read is Stiefvater – I love her book The Scorpio Races, though I have heard of a few of the others.
I haven’t read The Scorpio Races yet, but I plan to read more of her backlist eventually. I just really love her writing.
Ahh, I reaaally need to get to Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries — everything I hear convinces me that it’d be my thing.
T. Kingfisher is great — I read Nettle & Bone last year and just loved it, in particular.

I adore Talia Hibbert and I’m so glad you loved her book! I also love Rogerson and need to read more by her soon. Kingfisher made my list this week too and I’m so glad I took a chance even thinking it’d be too spooky for my chicken butt. 😂 I hope you discover some more amazing new authors in 2024!
I loved Hibbert’s book so much that I bought the Illumicrate special edition. It has such a cute design. Kingfisher and Rogerson are definitely both authors I need to read more from. I think you’d enjoy the most recent Kingfisher duology that I finished (The Clockwork Boys). It wasn’t really spooky. It was more of a quest/heist story.

I loved We Could Be So Good, and she has another book coming out this year that is set in the same universe. I cannot wait to get my hands on it!
