Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
Can’t Spell Treason without Tea by Rebecca Thorne – 4.25⭐ – I adored this book so much. It was mostly cozy, and I had a great time getting to watch the characters build their dream life together. It made me want to run away from everything and open a bookshop, too. lol. The sapphic couple had a great dynamic that clearly showed how much they loved each other. There was even a bit of action and mystery, as well, with dragons and evil queens causing some trouble for the protagonists.
When Among Crows by Veronica Roth – 4⭐ – This was my first book by Roth, and I really liked it. The writing was very atmospheric, and the story was intriguing and satisfying despite being only a novella. The infusion of Slavik folklore into the landscape of urban Chicago was really interesting, and the journey of the characters was a compelling one. If you enjoy urban fantasy and are looking for a quick read, I definitely recommend it.
You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian – 5⭐ – I adored this book. It had great characters and really tugged on the heartstrings. If you want a book with mid-20th century historical mm romance, do not miss this one. See all my thoughts in my review.
When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker – DNF @ 15% – I decided to not finish this one. I just wasn’t really feeling it. Many of the elements and characters felt similar to Throne of Glass, which I just finished. Nothing really gripped me enough to care about the characters and to want to keep reading. I may come back to it one day, but today is not that day.

What are you currently reading?
Relics of Ruin by Erin M. Evans (39%) – I’m enjoying this sequel so far. It has a really cool library and some interesting mysteries to solve. What more could I ask for? There’s also a bit more politics in this one than the first from what I can remember, and I’m liking the additions to the world-building.
Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones (9%) – I just started this one. I saw that my library had the audio and picked it up on a whim since I enjoyed Howl’s Moving Castle. It is definitely giving Aladdin vibes, which is fun.

What will you read next?

Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland, We Shall Be Monsters by Tara Sim, Goddess of the River by Vaishnavi Patel
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
Sorry to see your DNF of When the Moon Hatched! Did you have an ARC of it? I preordered it after it was picked up by trad. You definitely have to be in the mood for her flowery style of writing. At least, that’s how she writes her first series (to bleed a crystal bloom, which I’m one book behind on).
I borrowed the audiobook from the library. I just didn’t find the characters or premise all that interesting, and I did bounce off the writing style. There was nothing that made me want to commit to listening to over 700 pages. Lol. I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
700 pages?! Whew. I did feel her second book in her older series was a little too long. Hopefully I enjoy this one.
I am glad I am not the only one who dnfed When the Moon Hatched. I was not a fan of the writing or the MC.
Yeah. I didn’t love the writing either, and the MC felt like a copy of other characters I’ve read. It just didn’t feel very original to me, and nothing about the plot was making me want to keep reading.
