Hello, everyone!
Things have been rough here for the last few weeks. We found out our roof has been leaking for a while and needs to be replaced. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to get contractors lined up to do the work. It has been much more of an intensive process than I expected. The first company refused to even come out to do an inspection because the damage didn’t sound big enough for them to bother. Jokes on them, though, because the whole roof actually needs replacement. Then the second company ghosted me after the initial inspection without giving an estimate. Luckily, I’ve finally found someone who has been responsive and professional. So, hopefully the work will get finished within the next few weeks now that the HOA has approved the plans.
On top of all that drama, illness has struck my household. I’ve somehow managed to come down with shingles on my face/mouth and have been in horrible pain for almost a week. If you are eligible, I STRONGLY recommend getting the shingles vaccine. I do not wish this torment on anyone. A few days ago, my wife also came down with COVID. I’m really hoping I manage to avoid catching it, but I think it is probably a certainty at this point. Fingers crossed I somehow avoid that fate.
All of this is also happening while we were preparing to travel later this week to scope out our potential new home. My wife has a site visit for a new job on Friday, and it is halfway across the country. I hope we will be well enough to fly by then, but we’ll see. We and her potential employer have already spent a lot of time and money on arranging the visit. So, it would be a bummer to have to reschedule everything.
All of these things together have left little time for blog posts, blog hopping, or responding to comments. I still plan to post some reviews in the coming weeks and have some other stuff scheduled or started that I hope to get posted, as well. However, I will probably be much less interactive with others’ posts and comments. I will be participating less in memes for the foreseeable future, as well, and posting will probably be a bit slim once the scheduled/planned content dries up. I hope to be back to posting M-F eventually, but I just don’t know when that will be.
That’s all for now. I hope you are all doing well! I appreciate all of the support for the blog and any positive vibes/thoughts you can spare to send my way. 🙂
Talk about a triple whammy! I understand the need for taking a hiatus. Take the time you need to wake care of everything else, including your health! We’ll be here when you return!
Thank you! Yeah. It has all just been a lot at once.
Oh man, that’s awful Chris! I hope you and your wife feel better soon and some of these bad universe vibes leave you.
Thank you!
Sorry to hear all this, Chris.
Best of luck to you both for speedy recovery. But beware of shingles, I know from experience that the associated neural pain can hang around. Throw everything modern medicine has to offer at it and if inclined, some large dose lysine from the health store.
All the best.
Yeah. I’ve read that the pain sticks around for a really long time. I managed to get to the doctor early enough to start the antivirals within the first three days of the rash. So, I’m hoping the medicine will help stave off the worst of it. It definitely still hurts, though, and probably will for a while.
Yikes!!! Sorry, about the roof, but glad you found someone. Ugh, I hope you guys feel better soon. We have been suffering with hand, foot, & mouth since last Tuesday. Apparently, it’s worse in adults, so that’s been fun. 🙃 I hope you guys are better to keeep your plans! Good luck!!
Oh goodness. I hope you all get to feeling better soon, too. I really hope we can keep our plans. It will really depend on how quickly she gets over COVID and whether I end up catching it. I’ve been cleared to travel despite the shingles by my doctor. Unfortunately, they take weeks to months to get better. Luckily, I have a pretty high pain tolerance.
I have heard that shingles are excruciating. I hope she got over Covid fast. We all tested positive for Covid on Monday night. So, the boys and I are trying to get over HMF and Covid. We think my husband had covid and gave it to us.. life is so fun sometimes.
Ugh, I’m sorry life has been a doozy lately!! Trying to get quotes from contractors is a pain in the butt, not to mention finding one who is professional and responsive. We’re trying to find someone to stain our fence & one of the good companies told us it wasn’t worth their time. Like, ok, we’re offering you $$, but fine…we’ll remember that when we give a word of mouth rec!
I hope health wise you both start feeling better soon! Especially with the upcoming job hunt trip! Fingers crossed for you!
Thank you! Contractors are so annoying to deal with. I just hope the people we’ve picked will do a good job, especially since we are paying out of pocket for all of the repairs. There is a warranty. So, it gives me some hope. lol.
Wow, that’s a lot! I’m hoping things will ease up and work out well for you both.
Thank you!
I’m so sorry to hear about everything that’s going on at home. It seems when life starts life-ing it happens all at once! I hope your roof gets sorted out quickly and that you and your wife feel better soon (and that you manage to escape COVID’s grasp this time). We’ll all be here when you get back to blogging. Take care, Chris! 🌻
Sounds like a lot going on at once! Take care & hope everyone is feeling better soon!

That’s so much to deal with! I’d say you’ve all deserved a little break from everything.
Yeah. Things have definitely been a bit rough. I’m finally feeling mostly better and hope to be back in the full swing of things soon.

Sending you all the positive vibes I can find! I’m sorry you’re having to deal with so many difficult things at the same time, I hope both you and your wife feel better soon and that the roof situation gets sorted out!
Thank you! I probably need to unpin this post because a lot has changed since I wrote it. We have both recovered from our ailments and managed to get a new roof. We’ve also figured out where we’ll be moving and started that whole process. So, I’m still not blogging much because I’ve been busy packing, but many of the things in this particular post have thankfully been resolved. 🙂
Oh well then I am very glad to hear all of your good news 😁!! That makes sense packing is very time consuming and tiring. Good luck with your move and I hope the whole process goes smoothly.
