WWW Wednesday (113) – November 27, 2024

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is (past) time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

It has been a few weeks since I’ve done an update. So, here’s everything I’ve finished reading since my last update on November 6:

Padawan’s Pride by Bryan Q. Miller – 3.75⭐– I had so much fun listening to this story. It is by no means necessary, but I loved that it filled in some of the gap of Anakin’s early training. I hope we get more stories in this time period of Star Wars because it is definitely underutilized.

A Reign of Rose by Kate Golden – 3⭐ – I just did not love this book as much as the first two in the series. The pacing felt off, and I was really put off by the main villain treating the FMC as pretty much nothing more than a breeder. I was reading this right after the election, and it just stood out to me as particularly awful. To be fair, the book portrayed it as awful. I just didn’t enjoy reading about it. My main issue was the pacing, though, and I just lost interest while listening to it.

Don’t Let the Forest In by CG Drews – ??? – I haven’t settled on a star rating for this one yet. I loved it, though, and if I was rating totally on feelings, it would be an easy five stars. The monsters were creepy, and I ate up the obsessive co-dependent relationship at the center of the story. It was deliciously toxic. This is a great book to read knowing nothing about it beforehand. So, make sure to avoid spoilers.

I also finished one of my BBNYA books this week, but I’m not allowed to talk about it yet. 🙂

What are you currently reading?

The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri (23%) – I took a long break from this one due to moving, but I finally picked it back up last night. I love Suri’s writing and am on pins and needles to see how the conclusion to this trilogy finishes playing out.

Stranger Skies by Pascale Lacelle (8%) – I started reading this book, but then moving got in the way. It is now in a box somewhere, but I plan to pick it back up as soon as I get it out of the box. It had an interesting start, and I’m very curious to see where the story is going.

Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown (16%) – I just started listening to this one yesterday. I’m a sucker for dark academia about secret societies, and this one is definitely scratching that itch. The mystery element has me intrigued, as well.

What will you read next?

Rebel Blade by Davinia Evans, Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang, The Gods Below by Andrea Stewart

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!

  1. I love that cover for Don’t let the Forest in. It’s just so creepy. I really want to read Blood over Bright Havens as it sounds brilliant. Hope your books don’t stay in boxes for too long

    • My bookshelves are arriving next weekend. So, hopefully, I can get them up and the boxes unpacked soon after, as long as the shelves don’t arrive damaged. Fingers crossed.

I also really love the cover. It’s the first thing that made me want to pick up the book.

  2. Don’t Let the Forest In looks SO good but I wonder if it might be too creepy for me 🫣 I know I’m tempted to add it to my TBR anyway just cos of that cover though, lol. Glad to hear you loved it so much! Blood Over Bright Haven also sounds amazing. I hope you enjoy all your reads 😃
