Welcome to my monthly wrap-up for April 2025! I’m a bit late again this month. I just really have not had any motivation to do these monthly wrap-up posts this year. They’ve honestly begun to feel like a bit of a chore, but I do feel accomplished when I finally finish them. So, here it is. lol.
April was a pretty great month. I spent so much time outdoors and got half of my garden planted. The potatoes, onions, lettuce, and carrots were all growing by the time the month ended. I also picked up a hanging basket of strawberries, which is doing really well, and a couple of blueberry bushes that I planted in pots. Fingers crossed we get a decent harvest of something. 🙂 Even if we don’t, I’ve still had a lot of fun working outside and watching everything grow. I also used my zero-turn mower for the first time. It took some getting used to, but I didn’t demolish anything while trying to drive it. So, I consider it a success.
On the blogging front, I managed to be fairly consistent with posting new stuff. I wrote some reviews and participated in some weekly memes. I even took the time to do some tags. My engagement with others was still pretty low, though. I just haven’t been feeling like spending a bunch of time on social media, but I do miss seeing what everyone else has been up to. Hopefully, I can be more active in May (spoiler alert: I’m not. 🤣).
What I’ve Read
Books & Audiobooks
April was a bit slower than March because I didn’t participate in any readathons. I usually take part in the Magical Readathon in April, but I was burnt out after the Trope-ical Readathon in March. I still finished 11 books (4,577 pages), which is closer to my usual amount for any given month. April was another solid month when it comes to ratings, as well, with most of my reads being 4 stars or above. I only DNFd one book this month. The books I read in April are listed below (ratings link to my review, if available):
- A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett (🎧 / 5⭐)
- The Shots You Take by Rachel Reid (🎧 / 4.5⭐)
- Give Me Butterflies by Jillian Meadows (🎧 / 3.25⭐)
- The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson (📖 / 5⭐)
- The Last Boyfriends Rules for Revenge by Matthew Hubbard (🎧 / 4⭐)
- A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen (📖 / 4⭐)
- The Gods Time Forgot by Kelsie Sheridan Gonzalez (📱 / 3.5⭐)
- The Rules of Royalty by Cale Dietrich (📱 / 3⭐)
- To Steal from Thieves by M.K. Lobb (📱 / 4⭐)
- Red Rising by Pierce Brown (📖 / 4.25⭐)
- The Last Hour Between Worlds by Melissa Caruso (📖 / 4.25⭐)
- Look Up, Handsome by Jack Strange (🎧 / DNF)

Progress On My 2025 Reading Goals
Let’s continue this monthly wrap-up with notes on my progress with my 2025 bookish goals. I’ve kept my goals pretty simple again this year. I do want to keep some sort of record of the trackable ones, though. So, here’s a quick peek at how my year is going so far.
- Goodreads Challenge: 51/100 books (+11 in April)
- Storygraph Pages Challenge: COMPLETED!!
- Read from My Shelves: 16/50 (+3 in April)
- Books Unhauled: 13 sold on Pango (+8 in April)
- Blog More Consistently: 15/52 weeks with at least 3 posts (+3 in April)
- Read Red Rising: 1/6 (+1 in April)
- Read Book Box Picks: 4 (+2 in April)
I did okay on all of my goals in April. I sold a bunch of stuff on Pango. Yay! I also finally started reading the Red Rising series. I missed one week of posting at least three posts each week. So, my perfect streak on that goal is now ruined. 🙁 Oh, well.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I had a good month of reading with decent ratings covering quite the spread from 3 to 5 stars. My average rating was 4.05 in April, which is pretty typical for me. My favorite book was The Raven Scholar. What was your favorite book from April? Let me know down in the comments!
That’s it for this monthly wrap-up. Thank you to everyone who has visited the blog and engaged with comments and/or likes! I appreciate all of you and always enjoy reading your input in the comments. I hope everyone is having a great May!
I loved both The Raven Scholar and A Drop of Corruption last month. It looks as though you had a good month of reading and well done on your target progress. Hope May is going just as well
It was a pretty great month. Both of those books were so good! They were the highlights of the month, for sure. 😊
Yay for discovering two 5-star reads! 🎉 I’m really looking forward to reading The Tainted Cup series cos I keep hearing so many amazing things about it, and I’m also very excited to try The Raven Scholar! It sounds so incredible 😍 It looks like you had a pretty great April overall, and I hope that (although you’re not engaging as much as you wanted) your May has been treating you well.
I’m super happy about the two 5-star reads. I feel like I give out 5 stars so sparingly these days. I don’t know if I’ve just become jaded or if reading so much has made it harder for stuff to stand out from the pack. Either way, it was nice to have two such great reads so close together. I definitely recommend trying The Tainted Cup and The Raven Scholar. They were both so good. 😊
