Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
Here is a look at the two books I’ve read since my last check-in:

The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah – 3.25⭐– My biggest problem with this book was its pace. The first half was SO SLOW, and I just had a hard time caring about what happened to the characters. I also wanted way more from the world-building. It was still an interesting story, though, and the end left things in a place that has me cautiously optimistic about the final book in the trilogy. You can find all of my thoughts in my review!

Golden Son by Pierce Brown – 4⭐– This was a great follow up to Red Rising. I enjoyed seeing more of the halls of power and how Darrow learned to navigate them. There’s still just something off about the writing and pacing for me, though. The story felt quite choppy at times, and the characters are written in such a way that I feel removed from them. It doesn’t help that Darrow has quite the insufferable ego. lol. The ending took me by surprise and had my jaw on the floor. I’m looking forward to seeing how Darrow will get out of this one in the next book.
What are you currently reading?
Tears of the Nameless by George Mann (64%) – This book is everything that I’d hoped it would be, at least so far. Reath is one of my favorite High Republic characters. I love that the story focuses on him and his research into the Nameless. We are finally getting answers about the mysteries of the Nameless and the Blight, and I cannot wait to see how this one ends. 🙂
His Face Is the Sun by Michelle Jabès Corpora (17%) – I picked this one up on a whim because my library copy became available. I did not expect to be loving it so much. The characters are all compelling, and the Egyptian-inspired setting is so fascinating. There’s even the POV of a palace cat. lol. I ended up going out and buying a copy yesterday because I’m pretty sure I won’t finish it before the library takes it back. I just need to know how it all plays out.

What will you read next?
I’m not sure what I’ll be reading next, but I have a bunch of ARCs and recent releases I need to get to. Here are a few of them:

The Survivor Wants to Die at the End by Adam Silvera, The Lure of Their Graves by Laura R. Samotin, Nobody in Particular by Sophie Gonzales
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
I love when a book takes you by surprise! That’s how I feel about one of my current reads 🙂 I hope you continue to enjoy all your reads and have a great rest of the week!
Thanks, Dini!
