WWW Wednesday (139) – July 16, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

Here is a look at the three books I’ve read since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:

A Valiant Vow by Justina Ireland – 3.75⭐– This was a fun adventure. I liked seeing how much Imri has grown since the beginning of Phase I. He’s been absent from most of the Phase III material. So, it was nice to get that closure to his character arc. My favorite Hutt also made a return appearance, which made me happy. Some of the plot points felt like they came out of nowhere, though, possibly because I haven’t kept up with all of the comics.

The Nightshade God by Hannah Whitten – 4⭐– This was a perfectly serviceable ending to the trilogy. I just didn’t love it quite as much as the first two books. The characters being split up really did a number on their dynamic, and the quest was too drawn out and became boring after a while. Find all of my thoughts in my review!

The Magicians by Lev Grossman – 3⭐– I finished this re-read, and the book was just as meh as the first time around. lol. I am determined to finish this trilogy, though, because it has been on my TBR forever. I just hope the main character is a little less insufferable in the other books.

What are you currently reading?

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (29%) – Moreno-Garcia is such a good writer. The atmosphere of this book is absolute perfection and would be an amazing spooky season read. I tend to like narratives split across time, and this one does it really well. I’m curious to see exactly how all of the POVs converge.

Morning Star by Pierce Brown (4%) – I just started this one. I’m still not loving this series, but I can’t quite place my finger on why. If I’m not enjoying it more by the end of this book, I might DNF the rest of the series.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Volume I by Daniel Jose Older (20%) – I haven’t picked this up since last week. So, there’s nothing new to report on the way of progress for this one.

What will you read next?

One of these choices, The Enchanted Greenhouse, is a library audiobook I need to get to soon. I also need to read my Camp NetGalley pick, The Book of Lost Hours, and an overdue July ARC, The Lavender Blade.

The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst, The Book of Lost Hours by Hayley Gelfuso, The Lavender Blade by E.L. Deards

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
