WWW Wednesday (140) – July 23, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

It has been a pretty slow reading week for me. Here is a look at the one and only book I’ve finished since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – 4⭐– I can always trust Moreno-Garcia to deliver beautiful writing and interesting characters. The plot of this story was a bit predictable, but I still enjoyed it. It had some great settings, and I loved the different time periods and creepy vibes. See all my thoughts in my review!

What are you currently reading?

The Book of Lost Hours by Hayley Gelfuso (19%) – I’m not quite sure what to think about this one yet. The premise is really fascinating, and the plot so far is engaging. I just don’t find the prose to be that gripping.

Looking for Group by Alexis Hall (37%) – This is a cute story so far about falling for someone through an online game. The writing is super heavy on the gaming lingo, though, and it does make it difficult to read at times despite having a glossary at the beginning.

Morning Star by Pierce Brown (77%) – Ugh. I’m struggling to get through this book. I’m so disappointed because I wanted to love this series so much, but I just don’t. The writing and dialogue just does not work for me, and this book, in particular, feels really repetitive. I’m gonna finish out this trilogy, though, because I’m still curious to see where things end up. However, I think I’m going to DNF the rest of the series, at least for now.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Volume I by Daniel Jose Older (62%) – I’ve made a bit more progress on this book. I’m glad to be filling in some blanks for some of my favorite phase one High Republic characters.

What will you read next?

One of these choices, The Enchanted Greenhouse, is a library audiobook I need to get to soon. I also need to read an overdue July ARC, The Lavender Blade, and I want to pick up Arcana Academy soon too since my copy arrived today.

The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst, Arcana Academy by Elise Kova, The Lavender Blade by E.L. Deards

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
