Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
I’ve gotten through a lot of books this week. First, I finished Ledge and was quite disappointed. You can see all my thoughts in my review, and I really don’t feel like rehashing them all again. The book just wasn’t for me even though it had some interesting elements. Next, I listened to The Last Graduate. I still love this setting so much, and the ending left me on the edge of my seat. Luckily, my hold of the last book just came in on Libby. 🙂 I also read Innate Magic. The magic and alternate history of this world was fascinating, but the plot and characters could have been better. It seemed like maybe the book was trying to do too much at once, and the whole thing just felt like it meandered around aimlessly for too long. A highlight this week was finishing off the Captive Prince trilogy by listening to Kings Rising. I loved this book. I think each installment of the trilogy improved significantly, and I loved the dynamic between the two leads in this last book now that everything was out in the open. The ending felt a bit abrupt, though, and I would have liked just a little more of the HEA to be explored in the text. I just finished Convergence, the newest Star Wars: The High Republic novel. It was quite good with plenty of action, a hint of romance, and heaps of political scheming. I think I’m enjoying this phase of The High Republic even more than the first because it seems more focused on characters and philosophy of the Force with an insidious enemy growing in the shadows. The first phase was good, but it was very focused on crisis response. This phase feels more subtle, and I like that a lot. Finally, I read The Heartstopper Yearbook, which is an adorable look at the history of the popular graphic novels. I loved how it outlined the evolution of the art and showed the earliest sketches of the characters.
What was my favorite of the week? This is a tough choice. Can I just say Ledge is on the bottom and everything else was 4 or 5 stars? Let’s go with that…

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently listening to The Legend of Black Jack. The author was kind enough to offer a free audiobook, and I couldn’t resist after seeing positive reviews on other blogs. I’m enjoying it so far, and it is definitely quite the adventure.

What will you read next?
IT IS A SECRET!!! 🙂 I’m finally getting around to reading my BBNYA finalists, and I can’t talk about them yet. So, this section will be blank this week and marked TOP SECRET! I’m going to try to get all three read this week because there are a ton of other books I want to get to in December, which you’ll see tomorrow in my TBR post.
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
Oof, Ledge sounds pretty disappointing and Innate Magic sounds like it had potential but didn’t quite follow through? At least you didn’t have a totally bad reading week. I hope you enjoy your current reads more and have a great rest of the week!
I liked Innate Magic. There were just quite a few ways it could have been better with slight changes. I still plan to give the sequel a go before deciding whether to continue the series.
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what the three BBNYA finalists are.
I’m really enjoying the first one so far. I can’t wait to share them all with everyone.
