WWW Wednesday (110) – October 23, 2024

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is (past) time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

For the first time in a really long time, I didn’t finish ANY books in the last week. 😭 I’ve just been so busy that I haven’t had the time. On the bright side, I’ve made a lot of progress on packing and going through stuff. I managed to throw away an entire garbage can full of old papers and clothes that have seen better days. I also set aside a trash bag of clothes that no longer fit for donation. So, at least my time was well spent even if it wasn’t spent on reading.

What are you currently reading?

An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson (56%) – I’m still slowly making my way through this book. I really like it so far. I still have no idea where it is headed, and it has managed to surprise me several times, which is nice. The dark academia vibes are on point. I just need to sit down and finish reading it. The curiosity of where it is all going is killing me.

Prince of Fortune by Lisa Tirreno (32%) – This is a great audiobook so far. The main characters are adorable, and the political intrigue is interesting. The magic is also really cool, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the history of the kingdom and its magic intersect with the conflict unfolding in the story.

The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien (79%) – I’m so close to being finished! Hopefully, I’ll have this one done by next week. I’ve made it through the part that tells the story of the children of Hurin. It is cool to read it in the context of the rest of the story for the first time.

What will you read next?

I’m just following my mood and hoping for the best at this point. lol. Here are a few books I hope to pick up soon, though.

Odd Spirits by S.T. Gibson, The Black Hunger by Nicholas Pullen, The Gods Below by Andrea Stewart

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!

  1. I guess that you’re not going to have a huge amount of time for reading until your move is completed. Glad that you are still enjoying The Silmarilion.

  2. It’s great that at least you’re making great progress in the packing and cleaning! It’s been a slow reading week on my end too—even in the quiet moments, things aren’t really all that quiet, lol. Hope the packing up continues smoothly and that you find some more time to sit down with one of your reads for a little while! ✨

    • Thanks, Dini. Yeah. I don’t foresee a ton of reading in my future over the next month, but at least it is for a good reason. I’m so ready to get this move finished. Luckily, there is not long now. I hope you are having a great week!

  3. It took me a month to read through “The Silmarillion”! It was a heavy read, but I remember feeling a huge sense of accomplishment after I finished it!

    • Yeah. It was fine, but the ending just didn’t quite live up to the promise of the rest of the book.

I almost always use gallery for my covers if I have more than one. It can cut off pieces of the cover sometimes, especially if it is an audiobook, but I like the way it keeps everything a uniform size.
