Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is (past) time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
The Nightmare Before Kissmas by Sara Raasch – 4⭐– This book had such a great premise, and I loved the main characters so much. You can find all of my thoughts in my review!
Bloodguard by Cecy Robson – 3⭐ – This was a pretty run of the mill romantasy. The romance was cringey at times, and the world-building was very weak. If you enjoy stories about gladiators, you will probably have a decent time with this one.
The Black Hunger by Nicholas Pullen – DNF – I could not get into this one because of how slow it was. You can read about all my reasons for DNFing this one in yesterday’s post.

What are you currently reading?
The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri (4%) – I’ve only finished the first couple of chapters, and I really could have used a summary or refresher at the beginning. lol. I’m excited to be back in this world, though, and see how the story wraps up.
Padawan’s Pride by Bryan Q. Miller (65%) – I didn’t realize that this would be about podracing! Anakin getting to race again is so fun. This is definitely a skippable story, but I’m really enjoying it.

What will you read next?

Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang, Stranger Skies by Pascale Lacelle, The Gods Below by Andrea Stewart
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
Well, seeing your blurb about BLOODGUARD makes me glad I canceled my preorder of it. So far that publisher has not captivated me with anything else outside of Fourth Wing. I have an arc for one of their upcoming books…I wonder if it’ll be more of the same “run of the mill” romantasy.
I’ve honestly found myself becoming a bit bored with romantasy. So many of them rehash similar themes and plot points. It all just begins to blur together. I did like the gladiator aspect of this one, though, and the fights were interesting. Outside of that it didn’t feel super well developed.
Omg the cover of Stranger Skies is stunning. The first time I’ve seen/heard of this book but I hope that the story inside is just as stunning as the outside of it! Happy reading 🙂
It is the sequel to Curious Tides, which I loved last year. I’m very excited to finally see where the story goes next. And yes, the covers for this series are SO BEAUTIFUL!
I really need to catch up with the Tasha Suri series. I haven’t read the Oleander Sword yet so I think I’m going to wait until Lotus Empire is published and then binge the whole series.
That sounds like an excellent plan! I’m loving the last book so far.
I’m about a quarter into The Lotus Empire and could definitely use a refresher, too, haha! I love how it just picks the story back up, but my memories of what happened at the end of the last book are hazy and not everything’s making sense. A nice recap at the beginning would definitely be a great help. It’s fantastic, as expected, though, so happy reading!
Yeah. That’s pretty much where I’m at, too. My memory of the second book is slowly coming back to me the more I read of this one. I’m loving it so far and can’t wait to see how it all ends.
The Lotus Empire!! I requested that one, but haven’t gotten it. I might have to just do the galley. I wish more people would do a refresher at the beginning, like John Gwynne does. It’s so helpful! I still need to read Blood Over Bright Haven!
I’m reading an eARC of The Lotus Empire. I guess they haven’t gotten around to sending out the physical copies yet. I’m loving it so far!
I really want to pick up Blood Over Bright Haven. I just need to get through a couple of ARCs first. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.
I need to just do the galley! I’ll have to remember to download it today.
Yes!! I am so excited for Blood Over Bright Haven to. I need to get through some old ARC’s first though. Even though… it’s now an old ARC. haha! Want to buddy read it??
I probably wouldn’t be able to get to it until next month sometime. We are moving to Illinois this weekend, and things are a little too crazy for a buddy read right now. So, you can go ahead and read it if you need to. I didn’t have the ARC. I had it pre-ordered. I’m glad I don’t have that pressure.
I just saw that you were moving this weekend!! I hope that everything goes smoothly and easy. No worries!! 🙂
