End of the Year Book Tag (2024)

The end of the year is rapidly approaching, which means it is time for the End of the Year Book Tag. I did this one in 2022 and 2023, too, but I’m still not sure where it first originated. If you know the creator, feel free to link them in the comments.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I still need to finish reading Stranger Skies and The Lotus Empire. If you’ve been following my recent WWW Wednesday updates, you’ll know that they’ve been languishing on my currently reading shelf for a while. I don’t know if I’ll get them finished up before the end of the year, but I plan to try. I also recently started The Merriest Misters because I wanted to read something about Christmas. Hopefully, I’ll have it finished in the next couple of days so that I can review it next week.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Like I say every year, I’m not really a seasonal reader. Although, dark academia books, as always, scream autumn to me, and I’ve managed to read a couple of them this year, including An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson and An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson. Don’t Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews also gave me some great autumn vibes.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

There are a few sequels I’ve got on my radar that will be releasing in the next couple of weeks. A Sky of Emerald Stars and Dating and Dragons are sequels to books I haven’t read yet but really want to. So, I’ve got my eye on them, but there’s not a rush. Heavenly Tyrant is also finally being released soon, and I’m looking forward to picking it up from the library once it is available.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Mostly, I just want to finish up the books I’ve already started. If I could somehow magically have time for three more, they’d probably be Reforged by Seth Haddon, Rebel Blade by Davinia Evans, and Beware the Nameless by Zoraida Cordova. I have several other Star Wars books I need to get to but will not have the time to read before the end of the year. So, I guess I’ll be forgoing my annual ranking of the new Star Wars books because there will be way too many I haven’t read yet.

Is there a book you think that could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

It is possible. Stranger Skies, The Lotus Empire, and Rebel Blade are all installments in series that I’ve loved so far. Therefore, it is totally plausible that one of them could completely wow me and end up stealing the top spot. We’ll see.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2024?

Not really… Last year I planned to not have plans for 2024. That has gone pretty well. So, I think I’m going to just continue to mood read my way through ARCs and my bookshelf. Of course, I’ll set my Goodreads goal to the usual 100 books, but I don’t have any plans beyond that.

How is your end of the year shaping up? If you’d like to participate, consider yourself tagged! Be sure to link back so I can see your answers. 🙂
