WWW Wednesday (127) – April 23, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

I only finished two books this week! They were both enjoyable, but nothing blew me away. Here are the books I’ve read since my last check-in:

The Gods Time Forgot by Kelsie Sheridan Gonzalez – 3.5⭐– I liked this book. It had interesting ties to Irish mythology, and the characters were compelling with weird amnesia and body swap issues. The middle of the book did become a bit repetitive and stale, though. I also wanted a bit more emphasis on the mythology than the story gave and wish the answers to the mysteries had been a bigger part of the plot earlier. All in all, though, I had a good time with this one.

The Rules of Royalty by Cale Dietrich – 3⭐ – This was a super cute take on a mash up between The Princess Diaries and Red, White & Royal Blue. It may have been a bit too cute, though. The story and most of the characters needed a bit more depth, and I needed way more angst considering the circumstances. See all of my thoughts in my review.

What are you currently reading?

To Steal from Thieves by M.K. Lobb (73%) – I hope to finish this one later today. I enjoyed Lobb’s previous books and was curious to see what this new book would be like. I’m enjoying it so far. The characters are interesting and relatable, and you know I love a good heist.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown (11%) – I haven’t read much more of this one because I’ve been focused on finishing up some library books and ARCs. It is an interesting concept, but I’m not so sure I love the writing/dialogue. I’m definitely hooked enough to finish it, though.

What will you read next?

I still need to read The Mask of Fear even though I didn’t get to it before the new season of Andor started. I also still have some ARCs and older book box reads that I need to get to next:

The Mask of Fear by Alexander Freed, The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah, Of Jade and Dragons by Amber Chen

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
