WWW Wednesday (134) – June 11, 2025

Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

What did you read last?

Here is a look at the three books I’ve read since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:

On Vicious Worlds by Bethany Jacobs – 4.75⭐– This was such a fantastic sequel. The characters were split up in this story, and I enjoyed both storylines a lot. The mysterious hacker and all of the political intrigue kept me hooked until the end. I was not expecting all of the revelations. So, the author managed to surprise me with some great twists, yet again. If you enjoy space opera, this series is not to be missed.

We Can Never Leave by H. E. Edgmon – 4⭐– This book was weird and full of teen drama, but it all really worked. The secrets of the characters and my attempts to work out what was going on kept me interested. The writing was beautiful, too. You can find all of my thoughts in my review!

The Lure of Their Graves by Laura R. Samotin – ???⭐– I haven’t settled on a rating for this one yet because I’ve got really mixed feelings about it. These characters are some of my faves, but the story felt kind of pointless and aimless. I loved the first book in this duology, but now I’m wishing it had just been a standalone.

What are you currently reading?

The Palace of Illusions by Rowenna Miller (28%) – I’m loving this story so far. Nerdy, introverted main characters who love their work are definitely my jam, and I’m always a sucker for stories that incorporate clockmaking/clockwork. It doesn’t hurt that the setting is Paris in 1900, which the writing does a brilliant job of bringing to life. I’m curious to see where the story goes next.

A Cruel Thirst by Angela Montoya (25%) – I’m liking this so far. The first few chapters were much more brutal than I was expecting. The author did a great job of conveying the horrors of both becoming a vampire and fighting them. The two lead characters just met each other, and I’m already living for their dynamic. I do enjoy stories about vampires and slayers falling in love, mostly thanks to Buffy. So, I’m looking forward to seeing how their relationship develops.

His Face Is the Sun by Michelle Jabès Corpora (56%) – I’ve made some progress on this one. Some exciting things have just happened, and I’m ready to finish this post up so that I can get back to reading it. 🙂

What will you read next?

I’m not sure what I’ll be reading next, but I still have a bunch of ARCs and recent releases I need to get to. Here are a few of them:

The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton, Into the Light by Claudia Gray, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab

I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
