Hello, everyone! It’s Wednesday! That means it is time for another WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words. I’ll be answering the following questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?
What did you read last?
Here is a look at the five books I’ve read since my last WWW Wednesday check-in:

A Cruel Thirst by Angela Montoya – 4⭐– I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. The characters were interesting and had so much great banter. The vampire lore was actually really cool, too. The relationship was pretty insta-love, but I enjoyed the two of them together so much that I didn’t mind. The nerd and the warrior fit together so well, especially with the dynamic of vampire and slayer added into the mix.

ADHD in Adults by Brian P. Daly, Michael J. Silverstein, & Ronald T. Brown – 4⭐– I know that this is a strange diversion from my usual reading. My professional counseling license renewal is almost due, and I needed to complete some last-minute continuing education. It required the reading of this book. So, here we are. lol. The authors did a good job of coalescing a lot of information into an easily digestible format. It did get a bit repetitive at times, though. If you are interested in ADHD in adults, this would be a great place to start for getting some information.

His Face Is the Sun by Michelle Jabes Corpora – 4.5⭐– This was such a fantastic story. It had a bit of everything weaved together into a compelling tale inspired by ancient Egypt. The court politics, rebellion, prophecies, and grave-robbing shenanigans all had a part to play. I just had so much fun reading this story and cannot recommend it enough.

A Magic Steeped in Poison & A Venom Dark and Sweet by Judy I. Lin – 3.75⭐– I finally finished reading this duology. I read the first book a while ago, but I decided to re-read it because I didn’t remember much about it. While I didn’t love these books as much as some others, they were definitely a solid YA fantasy story. I enjoyed the court politics of the first book and the quest of the second one. The two parts of the story were a bit too different, though, and the second book felt a bit too rushed. The tea magic was probably my favorite thing, and it was largely missing from the second book.
What are you currently reading?
The Palace of Illusions by Rowenna Miller (52%) – I made quite a bit of progress on this one in the last week. I still love the setting so much, and the characters are continuing to grow on me even more. The plot is a little slow, but things are beginning to pick up. I’m curious to see how it all ends.
The Listeners by Maggie Stiefvater (4%) – I’ve only just started this one, but Stiefvater’s writing has already sucked me into the story. I don’t have a clue where the story is going, but I’m down for the ride.

What will you read next?
These choices will be the same from last week because I didn’t pick up a single one of them. lol. I ended up reading The Book of Tea duology instead, and I’ve got no regrets. 🙂

The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton, Into the Light by Claudia Gray, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab
I hope you’ve all had a great week! What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your WWW Wednesday posts there, as well. I’d love to see them!
It sounds as though you’ve had a good reading week. His face is the Sun sounds brilliant and I’ve added it to my TBR.
Definitely going to have to get my hands on The Listeners soon!
Okay, I do like bantery characters, even if instalove isn’t my favorite. Might have to squeeze in A Cruel Thirst sometime when I’m in the mood!
I’ve had A MAGIC STEEPED IN POISIN on my shelf for years. I really need to get to it. I’m thinking I’ll just read the second one via audio & avoid buying another book lol. Hopefully my library has it on audio.
